THE SUMMER OF 2004 HAS TURNED OUT TO BE ONE OF THE COOLEST ON RECORD.
DURING THE ENTIRE SEASON, THERE WERE ONLY 19 DAYS WHEN NASHVILLE'S
TEMPERATURE CLIMBED TO 90 DEGREES OR GREATER. THIS BREAKS THE CITY'S
RECORD FOR FEWEST 90 DEGREE DAYS IN ONE YEAR. THE PREVIOUS RECORD OF
23 WAS SET IN 1889.
THE YEARS OF 1910 AND 1920 TIE FOR THIRD PLACE, WITH 30 DAYS AT 90
DEGREES OR WARMER, AND 32 SUCH DAYS WERE OBSERVED IN 1882, 1917, AND
1967.
THE RECORD FOR MOST 90 DEGREE DAYS IN ONE YEAR IS 108, WHICH
OCCURRED IN 1954. ROUNDING OUT THE TOP FIVE ARE 94 DAYS IN 1980, 93
