FLOOD STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NASHVILLE TN
856 PM CDT TUE JUN 29 2004
...FLOOD WARNINGS CONTINUE FOR SOUTHERN WARREN AND NORTHERN GRUNDY
COUNTIES UNTIL 1045 PM AND FOR COFFEE COUNTY UNTIL 1115 PM...
AT 850 PM, WEATHER RADAR INDICATED A FEW CELLS IN THE MCMINNVILLE AND
MANCHESTER AREAS THAT WERE PRODUCING HEAVY RAINFALL, ALTHOUGH THE
ECHOES WERE SHOWING A GRADUAL DECREASE IN INTENSITY. STORMS THAT WERE
EARLIER FOCUSED OVER THE WARREN, GRUNDY, AND COFFEE COUNTY BORDER
HAVE EXITED THIS AREA, THEREBY REDUCING THE AMOUNT OF ADDITIONAL
RAINFALL THERE.
STILL, RUNOFF INTO AREA CREEKS AND STREAMS CAN STILL PRODUCE
FLOODING, SO RESIDENTS LIVING IN FLOOD PRONE AREAS SHOULD BE ALERT
FOR THREATENING WATERS. ALSO, FLOODING IS THE NUMBER ONE WEATHER
KILLER IN THE UNITED STATES, AND MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN
AUTOMOBILES. THUS, IF YOU ENCOUNTER A WATER COVERED ROADWAY WHILE
DRIVING, PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DRIVE ACROSS.
