...TROPICAL DEPRESSION 17W MOVING SOUTH-SOUTHEAST AND WEAKENING...

.NEW INFORMATION...
Tropical Depression 17W is currently located near 4.5 degrees North
and 140.5 degrees East. 17W is moving southward but is expected to
gradually make a turn toward the west with a decrease in forward
speed through Wednesday.

.AREAS AFFECTED...
This local statement provides information and recommended actions
for people on Yap and Ngulu in Yap State, and Koror and Kayangel in
the Republic of Palau.

.WATCHES/WARNINGS...
The Tropical Storm Watch is no longer in effect for Yap and Ngulu
in Yap State and Kayangel and Koror in the Republic of Palau.

.STORM INFORMATION...
AT 7 AM ChST...the center of Tropical Depression 17W was located
near Latitude 4.5 degrees North and Longitude 140.5 degrees East.
This was located about 380 miles south of Yap and 455 miles east of
Koror. Current motion was south-southeast at 16 mph. Current
intensity was 25 mph.

.SITUATION OVERVIEW...
The Tropical Storm Watch is no longer in effect for Yap and Ngulu in
Yap State and Kayangel and Koror in the Republic of Palau. TD 17W is
currently moving southward but should resume a westward movement
later today.

The latest model data shows the remains of Tropical Depression 17W
eventually moving west, passing near the main island of Babulthuap in
Palau sometime on Thursday. 17W is expected to remain weak with
littleto no intensification.

.NEXT UPDATE...
This will be the last local statement issued by the National Weather
Service on Tropical Depression 17W.

...YAP AND NGULU...

.PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
While damaging winds of 40 mph or more are no longer expected, gusty
winds between 20 and 30 mph are expected, especially around heavier
showers and thunderstorms.

Residents should take action to secure loose materials on property.
The gusty winds will be a hazard to Small Craft. Hazardous surf is
possible during the next 48 hours. Passing heavy showers are already
occasionally occurring.

...WIND INFORMATION...
Northeast winds of 20 to 25 mph, with gusts to 30 mph are possible
today through Wednesday night, becoming easterly Wednesday night.
The strongest winds will likely be around the heaviest showers and
thunderstorms.

...STORM SURGE AND SURF INFORMATION...
Surf will be elevated along north and east facing reefs, driven by
winds, and may become hazardous at 9 feet or higher today. This will
create strong rip currents along north and east reefs. Combined seas
will be hazardous to small craft at 7 to 10 feet through Thursday.

.PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Damaging tropical storm force winds of 40 mph or more are no longer
expected. Gusty winds are still expected, especially around heavier
showers and thunderstorms. Winds and seas are expected to be
hazardous to Small Craft Wednesday night and Thursday. Rough surf,
and heavy rain are possible during the next 48 hours.

...WIND INFORMATION...
Northeast winds of 10 to 15 mph today increasing to between 15 to 20
mph with gusts of 30 mph tonight, especially near heavy showers and
thundestorms. These winds will persist through Thursday before
tapering off.

...STORM SURGE AND SURF INFORMATION...
Surf will be elevated along north and east facing reefs, driven by
winds, and may become hazardous at 9 feet or higher today thorough
Thursday. This will create strong rip currents along north and east
reefs. Combined seas of 4 to 6 feet will increase through Wednesday,
possibly reaching to between 10 and 12 feet Wednesday night.
