...SUPER TYPHOON MAWAR MOVING SLOWLY AWAY FROM THE MARIANAS...

.NEW INFORMATION...
Typhoon Warnings for Guam and Rota have been discontinued.

.AREAS AFFECTED...
This local statement provides important information and
recommended actions for people in Guam and the Northern Marianas.

.Watches/Warnings...
Tropical cyclone watches and warnings are no longer in effect
anywhere across the Marianas and surrounding waters.

Please check the latest public and marine forecasts for detailed
information about additional hazards.

.STORM INFORMATION...
At 5 PM ChST...the center of Super Typhoon Mawar (02W) was
located near LATITUDE 14.6N...LONGITUDE 142.7E. This was about
160 miles west-northwest of Guam and bout 170 miles west of Rota.
Storm Motion was west-northwest. Storm Intensity was 155 mph.

.SITUATION OVERVIEW...
Super Typhoon Mawar will continue to move away from the Marianas
to the west-northwest during the next couple of days. However,
periods of heavy rain associated with Mawar still poses a threat
for flash flooding over Guam, and breezy to locally windy
conditions will persist over the Marianas through at least
tonight.

.PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Many casualties occur after a storm has passed. Be smart and
use caution. Continue to heed the advice of local officials as
they conduct rescue and recovery efforts. Wait for the all-clear
signal before re-entering evacuation zones or any area that
received significant damage or flooding.

Pay attention for possible road closures and stay away from
downed power lines. Listen for any boil water alerts.

Mariners should check the latest coastal waters forecast before
making any definite plans.

As it pertains to this event...this will be the last local
statement issued by the National Weather Service regarding the
effects of tropical cyclone hazards upon the area.

...PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
As soon as you are able, check in with your points of contact
among family and friends. Inform them of your status and
condition. Be a good samaritan and check in on your neighbors.

If you are using a portable generator, observe all safety
precautions to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning, electrocution, or
fires. Portable generators should be operated outdoors, in a dry
and well ventilated place. Do not store fuel inside your home or
garage.

If you received roof damage, do not go up on the roof until the
threat of gusty winds and heavy rain has fully subsided. If
operating chain saws and portable generators, review the
operators manual and observe all safety precautions.

Stay out of flooded areas as the water may be contaminated or the
road might have been washed away. Test drinking water before
using, particularly from wells. Stay away from downed power lines
too.

Small craft should remain in port or safe harbor until winds
and seas subside. For any small craft who are in distress, or if
you see someone else in distress, radio your situation according
to maritime protocol. If appropriate, deploy your emergency
distress beacon.
