**Hurricane Henri will bring heavy rain and strong winds to
Connecticut today into Monday morning**

* CHANGES TO WATCHES AND WARNINGS:
    - None

* CURRENT WATCHES AND WARNINGS:
    - A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Litchfield County, Connecticut

* STORM INFORMATION:
    - About 150 miles southeast of Torrington CT or about 190 miles
      southeast of Pittsfield MA
    - 40.1N 71.2W
    - Storm Intensity 75 mph
    - Movement North or 350 degrees at 18 mph

SITUATION OVERVIEW
------------------

Henri remains a hurricane and continues to move northward towards Long
Island and southern New England. Henri is expected to make landfall
near eastern Long Island or southern New England today, then weaken
rapidly as it heads across Connecticut tonight. The storm will
continue to slowly exit the region on Monday. There remains some
uncertainty how far west Henri will track and intensify before making
landfall. The main hazards include flooding rain and damaging winds.
The heaviest rainfall looks to occur for late today into Monday
morning and this may result in both flash flooding and main stem river
flooding. Winds gusts reaching tropical storm force are expected in
Litchfield County, which will result in downed large tree limbs, trees
and power outages.

POTENTIAL IMPACTS
-----------------

* FLOODING RAIN:
Protect against life-threatening rainfall flooding having possible
extensive impacts across EASTERN NEW YORK AND ADJACENT WESTERN NEW
ENGLAND. Potential impacts include:
    - Major flooding may prompt many evacuations and rescues.
    - Rivers and tributaries may rapidly overflow their banks in
      multiple places. Small streams, creeks, canals and ditches may
      become dangerous rivers. In mountain areas, destructive runoff
      may run quickly down valleys while increasing susceptibility to
      rockslides and mudslides. Flood control systems and barriers
      may become stressed.
    - Flood waters may enter many structures within multiple
      communities. In many places, flood waters may cover escape
      routes. Streets and parking lots become rivers of moving water
      with underpasses submerged. Driving conditions become
      dangerous. Many road and bridge closures with some weakened or
      washed out.

* WIND:
Protect against dangerous wind having possible significant impacts
across northwest Connecticut. Potential impacts in this area
include:
    - Some damage to roofing and siding materials, along with damage
      to porches, awnings, carports, and sheds. A few buildings
      experiencing window, door, and garage door failures. Mobile
      homes damaged, especially if unanchored. Unsecured lightweight
      objects become dangerous projectiles.
    - Several large trees snapped or uprooted, but with greater
      numbers in places where trees are shallow rooted. Several
      fences and roadway signs blown over.
    - Some roads impassable from large debris, and more within urban
      or heavily wooded places. A few bridges, causeways, and access
      routes impassable.
    - Scattered power and communications outages, but more prevalent
      in areas with above ground lines.

including possible evacuation. If ordered to evacuate, do so
immediately.
