...TROPICAL STORM 16W CONTINUES TO APPROACH TO THE MARIANAS...

.NEW INFORMATION...
A Tropical Storm Watch is now in effect for Guam.

.AREAS AFFECTED...
This local statement provides updated information and recommended
actions for people in Guam.

.Watches/Warnings...
A Tropical Storm Watch is now in effect for Guam. Tropical storm
conditions, including damaging winds of 39 mph or more, are possible
within the next 48 hours.

All persons on Guam should review their preparedness plan and be
ready to implement it should a warning be issued for their area.

.STORM INFORMATION...
At 700 PM CHST...2100 UTC...the center of Tropical Storm 16W was
located near Latitude 12.3 degrees North and Longitude 158.2 degrees
East...moving west at 15 mph. Maximum sustained winds remain at
40 mph.

.SITUATION OVERVIEW...
Tropical Storm 16W is moving west with strongest sustained winds
north and south of the center. The current predicted track of the
tropical storm has it passing south of Guam sometime on Tuesday.

.NEXT UPDATE...
The next local statement will be issued by 300 PM this afternoon, or
sooner if needed.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
All persons in Guam should review their preparedness plan and be
ready to implement it should a warning be issued for their area.

...WIND INFORMATION...
East winds of 10 to 15 mph are expected today through Monday night.
Winds are expected to increase Tuesday morning. Wind speeds are
uncertain at this time but 45 to 50 mph with maximum wind gusts up to
60 mph are possible on Tuesday.

...STORM SURGE AND SURF INFORMATION...
Surf will be 3 to 5 feet on east facing reefs through Monday night
but will likely become hazardous at 10 to 15 feet along east facing
shores Tuesday. As this is a developing situation and these
calculations are still being formulated. Surf could briefly become
dangerous up to 20 feet on east facing reefs Tuesday if 16W passes
nearer Guam.

...RAINFALL...
>From 4 to 8 inches of rain is possible Monday night through Tuesday
night in heavy showers and thunderstorms as Tropical Storm 16W passes
south of Guam.
