...TROPICAL STORM SURIGAE DRIFTING FARTHER AWAY FROM NGULU...

.NEW INFORMATION...
None.

.AREAS AFFECTED...
This local statement provides information and recommended actions
for people on Yap Island and Ngulu in Yap State, Kayangel and Koror
in the Republic of Palau.

.WATCHES/WARNINGS...
A Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for Yap Island and Ngulu
in Yap State.

A Tropical Storm Watch remains in effect for Kayangel and Koror in
Palau.

.STORM INFORMATION...
At 700 PM ChST...0900 UTC...the center of Tropical Storm Surigae was
located about 50 miles north-northwest of Ngulu and 65 miles west-
southwest of Yap near Latitude 9.0 degrees North and Longitude 137.3
degrees East, moving northwest at 6 mph with maximum sustained winds
of 40 mph.

.SITUATION OVERVIEW...
Tropical Storm Surigae will gradually move west-northwestward farther
away from Ngulu tonight. Surigae is going to pass north of Koror and
Kayangel Thursday afternoon through Friday morning.

.NEXT UPDATE...
The next local statement will be issued by 300 AM early Thursday
morning or sooner if needed.

.PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Stay in a sturdy shelter until winds have subsided early Thursday
morning. Follow instructions from your emergency officials.

...WIND INFORMATION...
Southeast to south winds of 20 to 30 mph with gust to 40 mph in
showers will shift to southeast and gradually decrease toward dawn.
All vessels, especially small crafts should remain in port until
further notice.

...STORM SURGE AND SURF INFORMATION...
Hazardous surf along south facing reefs at 10 to 12 feet will build
further to between 10 and 13 feet toward dawn. Surf will become
dangerous at 13 to 15 feet and spread to southwest facing reefs on
Thursday.

...OTHER STORM EFFECTS...
Additional rainfall up to an inch is still possible through Thursday
evening. Minor flooding can still occur along rivers and low-lying
areas during heavier showers.

...NGULU...

.PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Stay in a sturdy shelter until winds have subsided on Thursday
morning. Follow instructions from your emergency officials.

...WIND INFORMATION...
Southwest winds of 30 to 40 mph with gust to 50 mph will continue
through midnight, then gradually subside to between 20 and 30 mph by
dawn. All vessels, especially small crafts should remain in port
until further notice.

...STORM SURGE AND SURF INFORMATION...
Dangerous surf of 13 to 15 feet will persist along west and south
facing reefs through tonight. Surf should subside to hazardous levels
of 11 to 13 feet by Thursday afternoon. Coastal inundation up to 2
feet is expected along southern and western shores through Thursday
morning.

...OTHER STORM EFFECTS...
Additional rainfall of 1 to 2 inches is probable through Thursday
evening.

.PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Preparation for possible damaging winds of 40 to 50 mph must be
completed before daybreak. Stay up to date with the latest
information from your weather service office and follow instructions
from your emergency officials.

...WIND INFORMATION...
Northwest winds of 20 to 30 mph with gust to 40 mph in showers will
continue through tonight. Winds could become damaging at 40 to 50 mph
and shift to the west on Thursday. All vessels, especially small
crafts should remain in port until further notice.

...STORM SURGE AND SURF INFORMATION...
Hazardous surf of 9 to 11 feet will persist along north and west
facing reefs through tonight, then build further to between 10 and
13 feet on Thursday morning. Surf will become dangerous at 13 to 15
feet and spread to southwest facing reefs Thursday afternoon. Surf
could build higher to between 14 and 16 feet Thursday night.

...OTHER STORM EFFECTS...
Additional rainfall of 2 to 4 inches is possible through Thursday
evening. Flooding potential will rise tonight through Thursday
afternoon.
