**ETA CONTINUES TO BRING HEAVY RAINS AND STRONG WINDS TO PORTIONS OF
WEST-CENTRAL FLORIDA**

* CHANGES TO WATCHES AND WARNINGS:
    - The Tropical Storm Warning has been cancelled for Coastal Lee

* CURRENT WATCHES AND WARNINGS:
    - A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Inland Citrus, Inland
      Hernando, Inland Hillsborough, Inland Levy, Inland Manatee,
      Inland Pasco, Inland Sarasota, Polk, and Sumter
    - A Storm Surge Warning is in effect for Coastal Lee
    - A Storm Surge Warning and Tropical Storm Warning are in effect
      for Coastal Charlotte, Coastal Citrus, Coastal Hernando,
      Coastal Hillsborough, Coastal Levy, Coastal Manatee, Coastal
      Pasco, Coastal Sarasota, and Pinellas

* STORM INFORMATION:
    - About 60 miles south-southwest of Cedar Key FL or about 60
      miles northwest of Mouth of Tampa Bay FL
    - 28.3N 83.4W
    - Storm Intensity 65 mph
    - Movement North or 10 degrees at 12 mph

SITUATION OVERVIEW
------------------

Tropical Storm Eta is located just offshore Pinellas and Pasco Counties
and is moving north at near 12 mph.  Heavy rains and flooding as well
as winds gusting over tropical storm force continue across the entire
Tampa Bay area.  Conditions will improve from south to north over night
however storm surge and freshwater/river flooding concerns will continue
area wide overnight.



POTENTIAL IMPACTS
-----------------

* SURGE:
Potential impacts from the main surge event are now unfolding across
the entire Tampa Bay Area with minor flooding and road closures being
reported. Remain well away from coastal areas having life-threatening
surge significant impacts.

If realized, these impacts include:
    - Areas of inundation with storm surge flooding accentuated by
      waves. Damage to buildings, mainly near the coast.
    - Sections of near-shore escape routes and secondary roads become
      weakened or washed out, especially in usually vulnerable low
      spots.
    - Major beach erosion with heavy surf breaching dunes. Strong and
      numerous rip currents.
    - Moderate damage to marinas, docks, boardwalks, and piers.
      Several small craft broken away from moorings, especially in
      unprotected anchorages.


Elsewhere across West Central and Southwest Florida, North of the
Anclote River you can expect a storm surge of 2 to 4 feet developing
during the morning hours.  For Charlotte and Lee Counties A storm surge
of 2 to 4 feet is possible during the overnight hours improving by
morning.

* WIND:
Potential impacts from the main wind event are now unfolding across
The Tampa Bay Area. Remain well sheltered from dangerous
wind having significant impacts.

If realized, these impacts include:
    - Some damage to roofing and siding materials, along with damage
      to porches, awnings, carports, and sheds. A few buildings
      experiencing window, door, and garage door failures. Mobile
      homes damaged, especially if unanchored. Unsecured lightweight
      objects become dangerous projectiles.
    - Several large trees snapped or uprooted, but with greater
      numbers in places where trees are shallow rooted. Several
      fences and roadway signs blown over.
    - Some roads impassable from large debris, and more within urban
      or heavily wooded places. A few bridges, causeways, and access
      routes impassable.
    - Scattered power and communications outages, but more prevalent
      in areas with above ground lines.

Potential impacts from the main wind event will spread north of the
immediate Tampa Bay Area as the night unfolds. Remain well sheltered
from hazardous wind..

* FLOODING RAIN:
Potential impacts from the flooding rain are still unfolding across
coastal counties from Hernando south through Sarasota. Remain
well guarded against dangerous flood waters and avoid rivers and low
lying area.

If realized, these impacts include:
    - Moderate rainfall flooding may prompt several evacuations and
      rescues.
    - Rivers and tributaries may quickly become swollen with swifter
      currents and overspill their banks in a few places, especially
      in usually vulnerable spots. Small streams, creeks, canals, and
      ditches overflow.
    - Flood waters can enter some structures or weaken foundations.
      Several places may experience expanded areas of rapid
      inundation at underpasses, low-lying spots, and poor drainage
      areas. Some streets and parking lots take on moving water as
      storm drains and retention ponds overflow. Driving conditions
      become hazardous. Some road and bridge closures.


* TORNADOES:
Potential impacts from tornadoes are still unfolding across West
Central and Southwest Florida.  If realized, these impacts include:
    - The occurrence of isolated tornadoes can hinder the execution
      of emergency plans during tropical events.
    - A few places may experience tornado damage, along with power
      and communications disruptions.
    - Locations could realize roofs peeled off buildings, chimneys
      toppled, mobile homes pushed off foundations or overturned,
      large tree tops and branches snapped off, shallow-rooted trees
      knocked over, moving vehicles blown off roads, and small boats
      pulled from moorings.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
----------------------------------

* EVACUATIONS:

The National Weather Service has received reports of people being
evacuated from their homes on Longboat Key.

Listen to local official if ordered to evacuate, do so immediately.

Do not enter evacuated areas until officials have given the all clear
to return.

* OTHER PREPAREDNESS INFORMATION:

Now is the time to stay inside and away from windows. Listen for
updates and be ready in case you lose electrical power. Keep a
battery-powered radio, charged cell phone and flashlight handy.

Keep your cell phone charged and in power-saving mode. If you lose
power, use it sparingly and mainly for personal emergencies and
check-ins.

If you are prone to flooding or in an area under a storm surge watch
or warning, be prepared for the possibility of a quick and dramatic
rise in water levels.
