* Time: 11 PM SST
* Location: About 125 miles west-northwest of Pago Pago
* 14.0S 172.5W
* Storm Intensity 60 mph
* Movement Southeast or 125 degrees near 10 mph

At 11 PM SST, the center of Tropical Cyclone Wasi was estimated to
be near 14.0S 172.5W, just off the southern coast of Savaii, or
about 125 miles west-northwest of Pago Pago. Maximum sustained winds
are estimated to have increased to near 60 mph, with higher gusts.
Additional strengthening is expected over the next 24 hours. Wasi is
currently moving toward the southeast at about 10 mph. This general
motion is expected to continue overnight, with a turn toward the
south expected on Saturday. On the forecast track, Tropical
Cyclone Wasi will pass just south of Tutuila and Aunuu early
Saturday, and then move away from the islands Saturday afternoon.
Heavy showers and thunderstorms associated with Wasi are expected to
increase in coverage over the next couple of hours as the monsoon
surges over the region once again.

A Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for Tutuila, Aunuu and
Manua.

A Tropical Storm Warning means that tropical storm conditions are
expected within 36 hours, in this case within the next 6 to 12
hours.

A High Surf Warning remains in effect for all islands of American
Samoa.

A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect for all islands of American
Samoa.

.PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Heavy rainfall and runoff may cause small streams to overflow,
resulting in flooding of low lying areas and roadways. Remain well
guarded against life-threatening flood waters having possible
extensive impacts.

Listen for updates and be ready in case you lose electrical power.
Keep a battery-powered radio, charged cell phone and flashlight
handy.

Avoid unnecessary travel overnight.

The American Samoa Emergency Management official is advising
residents to remain on alert. Preparations to protect life and
property should be completed as strong and locally damaging winds
are expected to begin in the next few hours. Be ready to comply
with any orders that are issued by local emergency management
officials. Continue to monitor radio for further warnings and
advisories.

The Department of Health and Human Services reports that shelters
are open at the following locations; Fagatago Methodist, Laulii
Methodist, Faleniu LDS, Mesepa LDS, Ottoville LDS, Fagotago
Catholic, Iliili SDA, Fagaitua High School, Coleman Elementary.

North to northeast winds of 15 to 30 mph will increase as
Wasi moves closer to the territory. Northwest to north winds of 40
to 60 mph, with higher gusts, are expected before daybreak Saturday,
with winds especially gusty in fast-moving heavy showers. The
potential for strong damaging winds will continue through Saturday
morning, then gradually diminish in the afternoon as Wasi moves away
from the islands.

...STORM SURGE AND STORM TIDES...
Large and dangerous surf, and strong rip currents, will increase
along west through north facing shores. Prepare for overwash of low
lying areas and roadways with localized beach erosion, especially
around high tide. A High Surf Warning remains in effect for Tutuila,
Aunuu, Manua and Swains Island through Saturday. Please see the
