This local statement provides information and recommended actions
for people in the main islands of American Samoa.

...WATCHES/WARNINGS...
A Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for Tutuila, Aunu'u and
Manu'a Islands.

A Tropical Storm Warning means that tropical storm conditions are
expected within 36 hours.

High Surf Warning remains in effect for all islands of American
Samoa.

Flash Flood Watch remains in effect for all islands of American
Samoa.

...STORM INFORMATION...

At 9 AM SST, the center of Tropical Cyclone 10F (18P), was
located around 13N/174W, 220 miles west-northwest of Tutuila. The
cyclone is currently moving southeast at around 11 mph. The
southeastward movement is expected to continue overnight, then
track south/southeastward Saturday. On this track, the tropical
cyclone will move very near or over the Samoan Islands late
tonight into Saturday. Slight intensification is forecast as the
system approaches the territory. The estimated minimum central
pressure was 1005 mb, or 29.69 inches of mercury.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Heavy rainfall and runoff may cause small streams to overflow,
resulting in flooding of low lying areas and roadways. Please
take extra caution when driving through flooded roads.

Mud and landslides are also possible along steep slopes and
mountainous areas as grounds become saturated.

The public is advised to take necessary precautions when driving
due to hazardous driving conditions and flooded roadways.

The American Samoa Emergency Management official is advising
residents to remain on alert and secure loose items as necessary.
Be ready to comply with any orders that are issued by local
emergency management officials. Continue to monitor radio for
further warnings and advisories.

...WINDS...
Winds of up to 25 mph will prevail through this afternoon. These
winds will increase tonight as the tropical cyclone approaches
the territory, bringing damaging northwest to north winds of 40 to
60 mph, along with higher gusts after midnight. The strong
damaging winds will continue Saturday morning before gradually
diminishing in the afternoon as the tropical low shifts south of
the islands.

...STORM SURGE AND STORM TIDES...
Expect coastal inundation due to a combination of storm surge and
large breaking waves for mainly west through north facing shores,
especially during high tides. A High Surf Warning remains in effect
for Tutuila, Aunu'u, Manu'a and Swains Island through Saturday. Please
