**LAURA COULD BRING TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS TO PORTIONS OF ARKANSAS
ON THURSDAY**

NEW INFORMATION
---------------

* CHANGES TO WATCHES AND WARNINGS:
    - A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for Calhoun, Clark,
      Dallas, Ouachita, and Pike

* CURRENT WATCHES AND WARNINGS:
    - A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for Calhoun, Clark, Dallas,
      Ouachita, and Pike

* STORM INFORMATION:
    - About 600 miles south of Little Rock AR
    - 26.1N 90.7W
    - Storm Intensity 110 mph
    - Movement Northwest or 310 degrees at 15 mph

SITUATION OVERVIEW
------------------

Hurricane Laura will make landfall on Gulf Coast tonight, with its
remnants moving across Arkansas on Thursday and Friday. As the storm
moves into Arkansas Thursday afternoon and evening, tropical storm
force winds will be possible over southwest Arkansas, with potential
gusts approaching 50 MPH.


POTENTIAL IMPACTS
-----------------

* FLOODING RAIN:
Prepare for dangerous rainfall flooding having possible significant
impacts across western into north central Arkansas. Potential impacts
include:
    - Heavy rainfall causing flash flooding.

* WIND:
Prepare for hazardous wind having possible limited impacts across A
large part of Arkansas. Potential impacts include:
    - Damage to porches, awnings, carports, sheds, and unanchored
      mobile homes. Unsecured lightweight objects blown about.
    - Many large tree limbs broken off. A few trees snapped or
      uprooted, but with greater numbers in places where trees are
      shallow rooted. Some fences and roadway signs blown over.
    - Scattered power and communications outages.

* TORNADOES:
Prepare for a tornado event having possible limited impacts across A
large part of Arkansas. Potential impacts include:
    - The occurrence of isolated tornadoes can hinder the execution
      of emergency plans during tropical events.
    - A few places may experience tornado damage, along with power
      and communications disruptions.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS

* EVACUATIONS:
None.
