SITUATION OVERVIEW
------------------

Hurricane Dorian is forecast to pass about 140 miles southeast of
Nantucket around daybreak Saturday morning as it races northeastward.
It will be well offshore by Saturday afternoon. Strong winds, heavy
rainfall and high surf will be the main impacts, with the strongest
wind occurring overnight and Saturday morning, especially over
Nantucket. A Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for Cape Cod,
Marthas Vineyard, and Nantucket.

Wind gusts will peak at 40 to 60 mph overnight and Saturday morning
over the Cape and Islands as winds turn from northeast to north. Winds
will diminish Saturday afternoon. Total rainfall of 2 to 4 inches is
possible, with highest amounts over Nantucket. Minor urban poor
drainage flooding is possible. A storm surge up to 2 feet is possible
during the Saturday morning high tide which may bring minor coastal
flooding to Nantucket Harbor.

POTENTIAL IMPACTS
-----------------

* WIND:
Potential impacts from the main wind event are now unfolding across
Cape Cod and the Islands. Remain well sheltered from dangerous wind
having possible significant impacts. If realized, these impacts
include:
    - Some damage to roofing and siding materials, along with damage
to porches, awnings, carports, and sheds. A few buildings
experiencing window, door, and garage door failures. Mobile
homes damaged, especially if unanchored. Unsecured lightweight
      objects become dangerous projectiles.
    - Several large trees snapped or uprooted, but with greater
numbers in places where trees are shallow rooted. Several
fences and roadway signs blown over.
    - Some roads impassable from large debris, and more within urban
or heavily wooded places. A few bridges, causeways, and access
      routes impassable.
    - Scattered power and communications outages, but more prevalent
in areas with above ground lines.

The immediate coasts of Rhode Island and Massachusetts will also have
gusty winds, which may possibly produce some limited impacts. Remain
well sheltered from the wind.

Elsewhere across Southern New England, little to no impact is
anticipated.

* SURGE:
Little to no impacts are anticipated at this time across Southern New
England.

* FLOODING RAIN:
Potential impacts from the flooding rain are still unfolding across
Cape Cod and the Islands. Up to an inch of rain has already fallen.
Remain well guarded against locally hazardous rainfall causing
localized urban flooding. Potential impacts include:

    - Localized rainfall flooding may prompt a few evacuations.
    - Rivers and tributaries may quickly rise with swifter currents.
Small streams, creeks, and ditches may become swollen and
      overflow in spots.
    - Flood waters can enter a few structures, especially in usually
vulnerable spots. A few places where rapid ponding of water
occurs at underpasses, low-lying spots, and poor drainage
areas. Several storm drains and retention ponds become
near-full and begin to overflow. Some brief road and bridge
      closures.

Elsewhere across Southern New England, little to no impact is
anticipated.
