SITUATION OVERVIEW
------------------

The center of Hurricane Dorian is slowly moving northwestward just
to the north of Grand Bahama this morning. While the center of Dorian
is still forecast to remain offshore, periods of tropical storm force
winds will continue over coastal and metro Palm Beach County through
tonight, with the greatest chances over the northeastern portion of
the county. Occasional tropical storm force wind gusts from squalls
can be expected over the rest of South Florida through this evening. A
few tornadoes are also possible through tonight, with the greatest
potential along and near the east coast.

Inundation of coastal locations along the Atlantic coast will continue
near the times of high tide through Wednesday, primarily along
vulnerable locations of the Palm Beach County coast, as well as in
low-lying spots along the Intracoastal Waterway. A prolonged period of
strong winds over the Atlantic coastal waters will cause very
hazardous seas, rough surf, and beach erosion through the next few
days.

Residents and visitors in South Florida should continue to monitor the
progress of Hurricane Dorian and follow the advice of local officials.

POTENTIAL IMPACTS
-----------------

* WIND:
Potential impacts from the main tropical storm wind event are now
unfolding across northeastern and coastal Palm Beach County. Remain
well sheltered from dangerous wind having possible significant impacts.
If realized, these impacts include:
    - Some damage to roofing and siding materials, along with damage
      to porches, awnings, carports, and sheds. A few buildings
      experiencing window, door, and garage door failures. Mobile
      homes damaged, especially if unanchored. Unsecured lightweight
      objects become dangerous projectiles.
    - Several large trees snapped or uprooted, but with greater
      numbers in places where trees are shallow rooted. Several
      fences and roadway signs blown over.
    - Some roads impassable from large debris, and more within urban
      or heavily wooded places. A few bridges, causeways, and access
      routes impassable.
    - Scattered power and communications outages, but more prevalent
      in areas with above ground lines.

Potential impacts from the main wind event are also now unfolding
across South Florida with tropical storm force wind gusts as feeder
bands move through the region. Remain well sheltered from hazardous
wind having possible limited impacts.

* SURGE:
Potential impacts from the main surge event are now unfolding across
the Atlantic coast of South Florida. Some potential impacts include:
    - Localized inundation with storm surge flooding mainly along
      immediate shorelines and in low-lying spots, or in areas
      farther inland near where higher surge waters move ashore.
    - Sections of near-shore roads and parking lots become overspread
      with surge water. Driving conditions dangerous in places where
      surge water covers the road.
    - Major beach erosion. Heavy surf also breaching dunes, mainly in
      usually vulnerable locations. Strong rip currents.
    - Minor to locally moderate damage to marinas, docks, boardwalks,
      and piers. A few small craft broken away from moorings.

* FLOODING RAIN:
Potential impacts from the flooding rain are still unfolding across
South Florida. Remain well guarded against locally hazardous flood
waters having possible limited impacts. If realized, these impacts
include:
    - Ditches and canals may quickly rise with swift currents.
    - Flood waters can enter a few structures, especially in usually
      vulnerable spots. A few places where rapid ponding of water
      occurs at underpasses, low-lying spots, and poor drainage
      areas. Several storm drains and retention ponds become
      near-full and begin to overflow. Some brief road and bridge
      closures.

* TORNADOES:
Potential impacts from tornadoes are still unfolding across portions of
Southeast Florida. Remain well braced against a tornado event having
possible limited impacts. If realized, these impacts include:
    - The occurrence of isolated tornadoes can hinder the execution
      of emergency plans during tropical events.
    - A few places may experience tornado damage, along with power
      and communications disruptions.
    - Locations could realize roofs peeled off buildings, mobile
      homes pushed off foundations or overturned, large tree tops and
      branches snapped off, shallow-rooted trees knocked over, moving
      vehicles blown off roads, and small boats pulled from moorings.

Elsewhere across SOUTH FLORIDA, little to no impact is anticipated.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
----------------------------------

* EVACUATIONS:
Do not enter evacuated areas until officials have given the all clear
to return.

* OTHER PREPAREDNESS INFORMATION:
Do not be a thrill seeker or risk your life for senseless photos or
videos.

If you are prone to flooding or in an area under a Coastal Flood
Advisory, be prepared for the possibility of a quick and dramatic rise
in water levels as large waves continue to break.

If a tornado warning is issued for your area, quickly move to the
safest place within your shelter. Protect your head and body.
