...SUPER TYPHOON HAGIBIS MOVING AWAY FROM THE MARIANAS...

.NEW INFORMATION...
None.

.AREAS AFFECTED...
This local statement provides important information and recommended
actions for people on the Marianas Islands.

.WATCHES/WARNINGS...
A Typhoon Warning remains in effect for Tinian, Saipan, Alamagan and
Pagan Islands. Typhoon conditions will continue on Tinian and Saipan
a couple more hours, and Alamagan and Pagan until noon. Afterward,
damaging winds are expected for Tinian and Saipan through early this
afternoon, and Alamagan and Pagan through early this evening.

A Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for Guam, Rota and
Agrihan. Damaging winds on Guam and Rota will gradually subside this
morning, and continue on Agrihan until later this evening.

A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian and
Saipan.

.STORM INFORMATION...
At 7 AM...the center of Super Typhoon Hagibis (20W) was located near
Latitude 16.8N...Longitude 144.4E. This was about 145 miles northwest
of Saipan. Hagibis was moving west-northwest at 20 mph with maximum
sustained winds of 160 mph.

.SITUATION OVERVIEW...
Super Typhoon Hagibis will continue to move away from the southern
CNMI today. The northern CNMI will remain under its influence until
later this evening.

.NEXT UPDATE...
The next local statement will be issued by the National Weather
Service in Tiyan around 3 PM...or sooner if conditions warrant.

local emergency management offices for the latest storm information.

Destructive southwest winds of 45 to 60 mph with higher gusts will
subside to damaging levels at 30 to 45 mph by mid morning. Winds
should subside further starting early afternoon.

...STORM SURGE AND STORM TIDE...
Combined seas of 15 to 22 feet will continue through this morning,
then slowly subside to between 12 and 18 feet this afternoon.
Dangerous surf of 15 to 18 feet will continue through this morning,
then subside to hazardous levels of 12 to 14 feet this afternoon.
Inundation of 2 to 4 feet remains probable until early afternoon
along windward coasts.

Additional rainfall of 1 to 3 inches is possible by tonight. Local
flooding remains possible in heavy downpours.
