...TYPHOON HAGIBIS RAPIDLY INTENSIFYING...

.NEW INFORMATION...
A Tropical Storm Warning is now in effect for Guam.

.AREAS AFFECTED...
This local statement provides important information and
recommended actions for people in Select locations within Guam
and the Northern Marianas.

.Watches/Warnings...
A Tropical Storm Warning is now in effect for Guam. Tropical
storm conditions, including damaging winds of 39 mph or more, are
expected late tonight through early Tuesday morning.

A Typhoon Warning remains in effect for Tinian, Saipan, Alamagan
and Pagan Islands. Typhoon conditions, including destructive
winds of 74 mph or more, are expected this evening. Damaging winds
of 39 mph or more are expected by this afternoon.

A Tropical storm warning continues for Rota and Agrihan. Tropical
storm conditions, including damaging winds of 39 to 73 mph, are
expected late this afternoon or early evening.

A Flash Flood Warning is in effect for Rota, Tinian and Saipan.

.STORM INFORMATION...
At 2 PM ChST...the center of Typhoon Hagibis (20W) was located
near LATITUDE 15.3N...LONGITUDE 148.8E. This was About 205 miles
east of Saipan. Hagibis was moving west at 18 mph with maximum
sustained winds of 115 mph.

.SITUATION OVERVIEW...
Typhoon Hagibis will continue strengthen overnight. It is
forecast to pass near Anatahan late tonight through early Tuesday
morning.

The next local statement will be issued by the National Weather
Service around 8 PM this evening.

AS Typhoon Hagibis approaches, damaging tropical storm force
winds this afternoon will become destructive by late this evening
with maximum winds in the 50 TO 70 mph range with gusts to 85
mph.

...Storm surge and storm tide...
Combined seas are building and will quickly build to between 15
and 22 feet tonight through Tuesday afternoon. Dangerous surf of
at least 17 feet is expected tonight through Tuesday afternoon.
Inundation of 3 to 4 feet is possible along windward coasts.

winds are expected to begin tonight before midnight. Maximum
winds of 50 to 60 mph with gusts up to 75 mph are forecast.

then further to between 10 and 14 feet tonight through Tuesday
afternoon. Dangerous surf of up to 13 to 16 feet is expected

Preparation for the onset of damaging winds should be near
complete. Make sure you have adequate supplies of food, water,
and needed medical supplies in a sturdy structure away from the
ocean. Fill your vehicles with fuel, ensure your generator is in
good working order, and have extra supplies of fuel for its
operation. Clear your property of potential debris. Have a
portable radio ready for receiving storm information.

announcements by local emergency management offices for the latest
storm information.

Fresh northwest winds will increase to between 25 and 35 mph this
evening. Tropical storm force west to northwest winds of 35 to 50
mph are expected overnight. These winds will shift to southwest
Tuesday morning and begin to decrease near noon.

...Storm surge and storm tide...
Combined seas will build this afternoon and reach 10 to 15 feet
tonight and Tuesday. Surf will also build to hazardous levels of
10 to 14 feet late this evening. Around 1 foot of inundation is
possible along windward coasts Tuesday.

...OTHER STORM EFFECTS...
Heavy showers will begin to move in over Guam this afternoon and
last into Tuesday with 3 and 5 inches of rain possible by Tuesday
evening.

Winds will turn to the south and gradually subside starting early
Tuesday afternoon.

Combined seas will build and reach 15 to 20 feet this afternoon.
Dangerous surf of 17 to 22 feet is also expected this evening
through Tuesday morning. Up to 3 to 5 feet of inundation is
possible along windward coasts.

Heavy rainfall will begin this afternoon with 5 and 8 inches of rain
