.AREAS AFFECTED...
This local statement provides information and recommended actions for
people in the Mariana Islands.

.WATCHES/WARNINGS...
A Typhoon Warning remains in effect for Saipan, Tinian, Alamagan
and Pagan Islands in the CNMI. Typhoon conditions, including
destructive winds of 74 mph or more, are expected this evening.
Damaging winds of 39 mph or more are expected by this afternoon.

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Rota, and Agrihan Islands.
Tropical storm conditions, including damaging winds of 39 mph or
more, are expected within 24 hours, late this afternoon or early
evening.

A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for Guam. Tropical Storm
conditions, including damaging winds of 39 mph or more, remain
possible this evening.

.STORM INFORMATION...
At 7 AM ChST...the center of Typhoon Hagibis (20W) was located
near Latitude 15.1 degrees North and Longitude 150.3 degrees
East, which was about 305 miles east of Saipan. Hagibis was
moving west-northwest at 16 mph with maximum winds of 75 mph.

.SITUATION OVERVIEW...
Typhoon Hagibis is expected to continue strengthening. It is
forecast to pass near Anatahan late this evening through early
Tuesday morning.

.NEXT UPDATE...
The next local statement will be issued by the National Weather
Service in Tiyan by 3 PM this afternoon.

Preparation for the onset of damaging and destructive should be
complete by noon today. Make sure you have adequate supplies of
food, water, and needed medical supplies in a sturdy structure
away from the ocean. Fill your vehicles with fuel, ensure your
generator is in good working order, and have extra supplies of
fuel for its operation. Have a portable radio ready for receiving
storm information.

Mariners should have secured their craft by now. Small craft
should be in port and secured.

Closely monitor advisories from the National Weather Service and
announcements by local emergency management offices for the latest
storm information.

AS Typhoon Hagibis (20W) approaches, sustained tropical storm
force winds will begin late this afternoon. Maximum winds are
forecast to be in the 50 TO 60 mph range with gusts to 75 mph.

...Storm surge and storm tide...
Combined seas will build today, reaching between 15 and 22 feet
tonight through Tuesday afternoon. Dangerous surf of at least 17 feet
is expected tonight through Tuesday afternoon. Inundation of 3 to 4
feet is possible along windward coasts.

...Inland flooding...
A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for the entire area. See latest
forecast for latest information. Listen for possible flood
warnings for your location...and be ready to act if flooding rains
occur.

...OTHER STORM EFFECTS...
Heavy rainfall will begin this afternoon with 5 and 8 inches of rain
possible by Tuesday evening.

be near complete. Make sure you have adequate supplies of food,
water, and needed medical supplies in a sturdy structure away from
the ocean. Fill your vehicles with fuel, ensure your generator is
in good working order, and have extra supplies of fuel for its
operation. Clear your property of potential debris. Have a
portable radio ready for receiving storm information.

Mariners should make final preparations for securing their craft
before noon. Any small craft still out in the water should return
to port and be secured.

Closely monitor advisories from the National Weather Service and
announcements by local emergency management offices for the latest
storm information.

Moderate north winds will shift to northwest and increase to between
25 and 35 mph this afternoon. Tropical storm force west to northwest
winds of 35 to 50 mph are expected by this evening. These winds will
shift to southwest Tuesday morning and begin to decrease near noon.

...STORM SURGE AND STORM TIDE...
Combined seas are expected to build today and reach 8 to 12 feet late
this evening, then further to between 10 and 14 feet late tonight
through Tuesday afternoon. Dangerous surf of up to 13 to 16 feet is
expected tonight and Tuesday. Up to 2 feet of inundation is
possible along windward coasts.

...OTHER STORM EFFECTS...
Heavy rainfall will begin later this afternoon with 4 and 6 inches
of rain possible by Tuesday evening. A Flash Flood Watch is in
effect for the entire area. See latest forecast for latest

Moderate northwest winds will increase to between 20 and 30 mph
later this afternoon. Tropical storm force west winds are possible
late this evening and could last through early Tuesday morning.
Winds will then turn to the southwest and gradually subside through
Tuesday afternoon.

...Storm surge and storm tide...
Combined seas are expected to build today and reach 10 to 15 feet
tonight and Tuesday. Surf will also build to hazardous levels of 10
to 14 feet late this evening. Around 1 foot of inundation is possible
along windward coasts Tuesday.

Heavy showers will arrive later this afternoon and last into Tuesday
with 3 and 5 inches of rain possible by Tuesday evening.
