...TROPICAL STORM KAMMURI STRENGTHENING SOUTHWEST OF GUAM...

.NEW INFORMATION...
None.

.AREAS AFFECTED...
This local statement provides information and recommended actions
for people in Guam and the Northern Marianas.

.Watches/Warnings...
A Tropical Storm Warning continues for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and
Saipan.

Tropical storm conditions, including winds of 39 mph or greater, are
expected a few more hours.

Please check the latest public and marine forecasts for detailed
information about additional hazards.

A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect for Guam and the Northern
Marianas. Please listen closely for any flood warnings that might be
issued

.STORM INFORMATION...
At 7 AM ChST...the center of Tropical Storm Kammuri (29W) was
located near latitude 11.6N...longitude 142.9E. This was about
180 miles southwest of Guam. Kammuri was moving west at 20 mph
with maximum sustained winds of 60 mph.

.SITUATION OVERVIEW...
Tropical Storm Kammuri will continue to move away from the
Marianas. Kammuri will strengthen the next few days and could
become a typhoon later this evening.

.PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Remain in safe shelter or sturdy structure away from the ocean
until weather conditions improve. Small craft should remain in
port and well secured.

Closely monitor advisories from the National Weather Service and
announcements by local emergency management offices for the latest
storm information.

.NEXT UPDATE...
The next local statement will be issued by the National Weather
Service in Tiyan around 3 PM...or sooner if conditions warrant.

Damaging winds will continue through late this morning. Stay in
shelters until winds subside and Emergency Management issues an
all clear.

...Winds...
East winds of 30 to 40 mph with gusts to 50 mph this morning will
decrease to between 20 and 30 mph this afternoon. Winds will
weaken overnight to between 15 and 25 mph and shift to the
southeast.

...Storm surge and storm tide...
Coastal inundation of 2 to 4 feet is still possible through late
this morning. Combined seas of 17 to 20 feet and dangerous surf
of 15 to 25 feet will continue through this morning then subside
this afternoon. Surf will remain hazardous, shifting from eastern
shores to the south and southwest through the weekend.

...Inland flooding...
3 to 5 inches of rain has fallen across Guam, with less rainfall
over the CNMI. Another 1 to 2 inches is possible through tonight.
