.NEW INFORMATION...
A Tropical Storm Warning in now in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian
and Saipan.

.AREAS AFFECTED...
This local statement provides important information and
recommended actions for people on Guam and the Northern Marianas.

.Watches/Warnings...
A Tropical Storm Warning is now in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian,
and Saipan.

A Tropical Storm Warning means that tropical storm conditions,
including of winds of 39 mph or greater, are expected tonight
through Wednesday morning.

Please check the latest public and marine forecasts for detailed
information about additional hazards.

.STORM INFORMATION...
At 7 AM ChST...the center of Tropical Depression 29W was located
near LATITUDE 9.4N...LONGITUDE 150.2E. This was about 465 miles
southeast of Guam. 29W was moving west-northwest at 17 mph with
maximum sustained winds of 30 mph.

.SITUATION OVERVIEW...
29W will continue west-northwest through Wednesday night, passing
south of Guam late tonight or early Wednesday morning. It will
gradually strengthen and could become a tropical storm as it
passes south of Guam overnight.

.PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Remain in safe shelter or sturdy structure away from the ocean
until weather conditions improve. Small craft should remain in
port and well secured.

Closely monitor advisories from the National Weather Service and
announcements by local emergency management offices for the latest
storm information.

The next local statement will be issued by the National Weather
Service by 3 PM...or sooner if conditions warrant.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Preparations for the onset of damaging winds should be completed
as soon as possible. Secure loose outdoor items and patio
furniture, or move them indoors. Secure or dismantle tents,
canopies and tarps. For those still living in tents on Tinian and
Saipan, find safe and sturdy structure through Wednesday morning.

...Winds...
Strong trades extend well north of Tropical Depression 29W. As 29W
passes south of Guam tonight, expect northeast winds of 20 to 25
mph to increase to between 25 and 35 mph this afternoon. Winds
will shift to the east tonight and increase to between 30 to 40
mph with gusts up to 45 mph. Winds will decrease to between 25 and
30 mph Wednesday afternoon. These winds will be felt across Guam
and the CNMI.

...Storm Surge and Surf...
Coastal inundation of 2 to 3 feet is possible as 29W passes
tonight. As has been previously forecast due to the ongoing trade
wind event, surf will reach dangerous heights of 15 to 20 feet
this evening. Surf will slowly subside Wednesday night and
Thursday but likely remain hazardous through the weekend.

...Other storm effects...
3 to 5 inches of rain is possible through Wednesday. Flash
flooding or mudslides are possible in flood-prone areas and steep
valleys.
