SITUATION OVERVIEW
------------------

OVERVIEW...At 100 AM CDT, the center of Tropical Storm Gordon was
located near latitude 30.8 North, longitude 88.8 West. Gordon is
moving toward the northwest near 14 mph. A northwestward
motion with some decrease in forward speed is expected over the next
couple of days. On the forecast track, the center of Gordon will
move across the lower Mississippi Valley through Wednesday.

Conditions are gradually improving across the Mississippi coast.
Winds will continue to decrease over the next few hours. Rainfall threat
has diminished tonight, but a rain band may develop during the day
and a flash flood watch remains in effect. Lingering storm surge
in Jackson County should continue to subside as the tropical storm
moves further inland and winds decrease.

POTENTIAL IMPACTS
-----------------

* WIND:
Potential impacts from the main wind event have occurred across
coastal Mississippi. Wind impacts will continue to decrease over
the next few hours.

Elsewhere across Southeast Louisiana and South Mississippi, little to
no impact is anticipated.

* SURGE:
Potential impacts from the main surge event have occurred across
Jackson County. Remain well away from locally hazardous
surge having additional limited impacts.

If realized, these impacts include:
    - Localized inundation with storm surge flooding mainly along
      immediate shorelines and in low-lying spots, or in areas
      farther inland near where higher surge waters move ashore.
    - Sections of near-shore roads and parking lots become overspread
      with surge water. Driving conditions dangerous in places where
      surge water covers the road.
    - Moderate beach erosion. Heavy surf also breaching dunes, mainly
      in usually vulnerable locations. Strong rip currents.
    - Minor to locally moderate damage to marinas, docks, boardwalks,
      and piers. A few small craft broken away from moorings.

Elsewhere across Southeast Louisiana and South Mississippi, little to
no impact is anticipated.

* FLOODING RAIN:
Potential impacts from the flooding rain are still unfolding across
coastal Mississippi. Remain well guarded against dangerous
flood waters having additional significant impacts.
If realized, these impacts include:
    - Moderate rainfall flooding may prompt several evacuations and
      rescues.
    - Rivers and tributaries may quickly become swollen with swifter
      currents and overspill their banks in a few places, especially
      in usually vulnerable spots. Small streams, creeks, canals, and
      ditches overflow.
    - Flood waters can enter some structures or weaken foundations.
      Several places may experience expanded areas of rapid
      inundation at underpasses, low-lying spots, and poor drainage
      areas. Some streets and parking lots take on moving water as
      storm drains and retention ponds overflow. Driving conditions
      become hazardous. Some road and bridge closures.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
----------------------------------

* EVACUATIONS:
Do not enter evacuated areas until officials have given the all
clear to return.

* OTHER PREPAREDNESS INFORMATION:
Keep your cell phone charged and in power-saving mode. If you lose
power, use it sparingly and mainly for personal emergencies and
check-ins.

If you are prone to flooding or in an area under a storm surge watch
or warning, be prepared for the possibility of a quick and dramatic
rise in water levels.
