FLORIDA KEYS...

Tropical Weather Discussion for North America, Central America
Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, northern sections of South
America, and Atlantic Ocean to the African coast from the
Equator to 32N. The following information is based on satellite
imagery, weather observations, radar and meteorological analysis.

Based on 0600 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through
1230 UTC.

...SPECIAL FEATURES...

Tropical Storm GORDON has developed, at 03/1230 UTC, and the
center is near 25.1N 80.7W, or about 16 nm/30 km, W of Key Largo
in Florida, and about 73 nm/135 km SE of Marco Island in Florida.
GORDON is moving WNW, or 300 degrees, 15 knots. The estimated
minimum central pressure is 1009 mb. The maximum sustained wind
speeds are 40 knots with gusts to 50 knots. Scattered to numerous
strong rainshowers cover the areas that are from 23N to 27N
between 78W and 81W, between Andros Island in the Bahamas the SE
Florida coast just to the east of Lake Okeechobee and inland,
including in the Florida Keys. The PUBLIC ADVISORIES about
Tropical Storm GORDON are issued under the WMO header WTNT32 KNHC
and under the AWIPS header MIATCPAT2. The FORECAST/ADVISORIES
about Tropical Storm FLORENCE are issued under the WMO header
WTNT22 KNHC, and under the AWIPS header MIATCMAT2.

The center of Tropical Storm Florence at 03/0900 UTC is near
18.0N 37.5W, or about 780 nm/1440 km to the WNW of the
southernmost Cabo Verde Islands. Florence is moving WNW, or 285
degrees, 14 knots. The estimated minimum central pressure is 999
mb. The maximum sustained wind speeds are 50 knots with gusts to
60 knots. Numerous strong rainshowers are from 17N to 20N between
37W and 39W, within 135 nm to the NW of the center. The PUBLIC
ADVISORIES about Tropical Storm FLORENCE are issued under the WMO
header WTNT31 KNHC and under the AWIPS header MIATCPAT1. The
FORECAST/ADVISORIES about Tropical Storm FLORENCE are issued
under the WMO header WTNT21 KNHC, and under the AWIPS header
MIATCMAT1.

...TROPICAL WAVES...

A Caribbean Sea tropical wave is along 67W/68W from 20N
southward, from the Mona Passage to NW Venezuela. Isolated
moderate rainshowers cover the areas that are from 15N to 20N
between 65W and 71W, across parts of Puerto Rico and surrounding
waters.

A tropical wave moving through the NW corner of the Caribbean
Sea, moving inland, along 88W, from the easternmost parts of the
Yucatan Peninsula, from 20N southward through Honduras and El
Salvador, into the eastern Pacific Ocean. Isolated moderate
rainshowers are in the Gulf of Honduras.

...MONSOON TROUGH/ITCZ...

The monsoon trough passes through the coastal sections of Senegal
and Gambia near 13N17W, to 12N21W, to 15N32W, and from 13N38W to
09N42W and 08N47W. The ITCZ continues from 08N47W to 07N53W and
07N57W. Widely scattered moderate to isolated strong rainshowers
are from 05N to 13N between 15W and 27W. Isolated moderate to
locally strong rainshowers are elsewhere from 12N southward,
mainly between 34W and 60W.

CARIBBEAN SEA...

Diffluent flow aloft is supporting scattered moderate convection
north of 16N between 79W-86W. Fresh to locally strong nocturnal
trade winds are forecast along the northwest coast of Colombia
overnight, and then again briefly on Monday night. Gentle to
moderate winds will prevail in the remainder of the area.

ATLANTIC OCEAN...

Please read the SPECIAL FEATURES section for details about
Tropical Storm FLORENCE.

A surface trough is along 17N62W to 20N58W. Scattered moderate
convection is noted along the trough between 57W-64W affecting
the Leeward Islands. A surface ridge prevails elsewhere.
