This product covers the Midlands of central South Carolina and east central Georgia CSRA

**Strong Winds from Tropical Storm Michael continue in the central
and northern Midlands**


NEW INFORMATION

* CHANGES TO WATCHES AND WARNINGS:
    - None

* CURRENT WATCHES AND WARNINGS:
    - A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Calhoun,
      Chesterfield, Clarendon, Fairfield, Kershaw, Lancaster, Lee,
      Lexington, Newberry, Orangeburg, Richland, Saluda, and Sumter

* STORM INFORMATION:
    - About 130 miles north-northeast of Columbia SC or about 190
      miles northeast of Augusta GA
    - 35.7N 80.0W
    - Storm Intensity 50 mph
    - Movement Northeast or 50 degrees at 23 mph

SITUATION OVERVIEW
------------------

Michael will continue moving northeast through the day with all
precip moving out of the forecast area by tonight as drier air
pushes in from the northwest. Periods of tropical storm force
wind gusts may still occur through parts of the afternoon.


POTENTIAL IMPACTS
-----------------

* WIND:
Potential impacts from the main wind event are now unfolding across
the Midlands of central South Carolina. Remain sheltered from
hazardous wind having possible impacts. If realized, these impacts
include:
    - Minor damage to porches, awnings, carports, sheds, and unanchored
      mobile homes. Unsecured lightweight objects blown about.
    - A few large tree limbs broken off. A few trees snapped or
      uprooted, but with greater numbers in places where trees are
      shallow rooted.
    - A few roads impassable from debris, particularly within urban
      or heavily wooded places. Hazardous driving conditions on
      bridges and other elevated roadways.
    - Scattered power and communications outages.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS

* EVACUATIONS:
Do not enter evacuated areas until officials have
given the all clear to return.


* OTHER PREPAREDNESS INFORMATION:

Keep your cell phone charged and in power-saving mode. If you lose
power, use it sparingly and mainly for personal emergencies and
check-ins.
