Tropical Weather Discussion for North America, Central America
Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, northern sections of South
America, and Atlantic Ocean to the African coast from the
Equator to 32N. The following information is based on satellite
imagery, weather observations, radar and meteorological analysis.

Based on 0000 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through
0445 UTC.

...MONSOON TROUGH/ITCZ...

The monsoon trough passes through the coastal sections of Sierra
Leone near 08N13W, to 03N20W. The ITCZ continues from 03N20W to
01N30W, to the Equator along 50W. Precipitation: scattered
moderate to strong rainshowers are from 02N to 06N between 15W
and 20W. rainshowers are possible elsewhere from 10N southward
from 60W eastward.

...DISCUSSION...

FROM THE ATLANTIC OCEAN FROM 60W WESTWARD, INTO THE SE GULF OF
MEXICO, AND INTO THE NW CORNER OF THE CARIBBEAN SEA...

An upper level trough extends from the NE/north central Gulf of
Mexico to the Isthmus of Tehuantepec of southern Mexico. A
stationary front cuts across Andros Island in the Bahamas, through
the Straits of Florida, to the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico.
Precipitation: scattered moderate to strong rainshowers, from six
hours ago, either have weakened and dissipated or they have moved
eastward. numerous strong rainshowers are in parts of southern
Guatemala, western El Salvador, and W and SW Honduras. isolated
to widely scattered moderate rainshowers cover inland and coastal
areas of Central America and the NW Caribbean Sea, from 13N to 22N
between 82W and 92W in southern Mexico, and within 360 nm to the
SE of the line that runs from 29N78W to 23N89W to 20N93W. isolated
moderate rainshowers cover the Atlantic Ocean that is from 20N
northward from 60W westward.

THE REST OF THE GULF OF MEXICO...

A cold front is passing through the Florida Panhandle, into the
central Gulf waters, into and beyond NE Mexico. Rainshowers are
possible to the NW of the line from 26N80W to 21N97W.

The current cold front will stall and dissipate in the south
central Gulf through Friday night. High pressure building behind
the front will prevail across the region from Saturday through
Tuesday.

THE REST OF THE CARIBBEAN SEA...

A NE-to-SW oriented middle level trough extends from the north
central Caribbean Sea into the SW corner of the area.
Precipitation: Scattered moderate to strong rainshowers cover the
area from 05N to 11N between 71W and 78W, mostly in Colombia and a
bit in NW Venezuela.

A surface trough is moving through the Mona Passage from 15N to
21N. Precipitation: rainshowers are possible from 16N to 23N
between 65W and 70W.

Moderate to fresh trade winds will prevail in the south central
Caribbean Sea through Tuesday. Gentle to moderate trade winds are
expected elsewhere.

ATLANTIC OCEAN...

A central Atlantic Ocean cold front covers the area that is from
21N northward between 44W and 58W. A 1018 mb low pressure center
is near 28N51W. Precipitation: widely scattered moderate
rainshowers are from 21N to 26N between 40W and 46W. rainshowers
are possible elsewhere from 20N northward between 30W and 60W.

The current stationary front will dissipate overnight. A cold
front will move into the northwest waters on Friday night, reach
from 31N74W to southern Florida on Saturday night, and then
dissipate slowly by Sunday morning. Another cold front moving
south of 31N on Sunday, will reach from 30N65W to the northern
Bahamas on Monday night, and from 25N65W to the central Bahamas
on Tuesday night.
