Tropical Weather Discussion for North America, Central America
Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, northern sections of South
America, and Atlantic Ocean to the African coast from the
Equator to 32N. The following information is based on satellite
imagery, weather observations, radar and meteorological analysis.

Based on 1800 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through
2300 UTC.

...MONSOON TROUGH/ITCZ...

The monsoon trough passes through the coastal sections of Guinea
near 10N14W, to 05N19W. The ITCZ continues from 05N19W, 01N23W,
to the Equator along 30W, to 01N40W, 03N44W, and to the coast of
Brazil near 04N51W. Precipitation:
isolated moderate to locally strong rainshowers are from 10N.

...DISCUSSION...

GULF OF MEXICO...

A cold front is moving through the western half of the
Gulf of Mexico, passing through SE Louisiana to NE Mexico.
A warm front, that is part of the same frontal boundary and
connected to the same 1011 mb Mississippi low pressure center,
passes through the Florida Panhandle, across the NE part of the
Gulf of Mexico, beyond South Florida and Lake Okeechobee.
Precipitation: widely scattered moderate to isolated moderate
rainshowers cover the area that is from 24N northward from 90W
eastward, including in parts of South Florida.

The current cold front is moving through the western half of the
Gulf of Mexico, passing through SE Louisiana to NE Mexico. This
front is preceded by a pre-frontal squall line affecting mainly
the waters N of 28N and E of the front. The cold front is expected
to reach from the Florida Panhandle to NE Mexico near 24N98W by
Mon morning, from near Tampa Bay to Tampico, Mexico by Tue
morning, and reach the Straits of Florida and the SE Gulf by Wed
morning while moving slowly across the SW Gulf.

CARIBBEAN SEA...

Atlantic Ocean high pressure will maintain fresh-to-locally
strong trade winds near the coast of Colombia through Tuesday.
Fresh-to-locally strong winds also are expected along the southern
coast of Hispaniola tonight through Monday morning. A weakening
cold front will move southeastward across the Yucatan Basin on
Tuesday night, and wash out across the NW Caribbean Sea by
Wednesday.

ATLANTIC OCEAN...

The current Atlantic Ocean stationary front extends westward from
27N65W to south central Florida. The frontal boundary will lift
northward tonight with near gale force southeast flow developing
across the forecast waters north of the Bahamas on Mon and Mon
night in association with a surface low that will move eastward
across the southeastern United States. The surface low will track
northeastward along the Georgia and South Carolina coasts on Tue,
and drag a couple of weak cold fronts across the northwest waters
during the middle of next week.
