* CHANGES TO WATCHES AND WARNINGS:
- None
* CURRENT WATCHES AND WARNINGS:
- A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for Camden, Eastern
Currituck, Pasquotank, and Western Currituck
* STORM INFORMATION:
- About 510 miles south-southeast of Ocean City MD or about 440
miles south-southeast of Norfolk VA
- 31.2N 72.9W
- Storm Intensity 80 mph
- Movement North or 360 degrees at 7 mph
SITUATION OVERVIEW
------------------
HURRICANE MARIA WILL MOVE NORTHWARD WELL OFF THE SOUTHEAST U.S.
COAST THROUGH TONIGHT BEFORE MEANDERING OFF THE NORTH CAROLINA OUTER
BANKS TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY.
WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO INCREASE TUESDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING WITH
TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS POSSIBLE ACROSS COASTAL NORTHEAST NORTH
CAROLINA LATE TUESDAY NIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY. THESE CONDITIONS WILL
CAUSE HIGH SURF...WHILE ALSO ALLOWING FOR SOME MINOR BEACH EROSION
AS WELL AS DANGEROUS RIP CURRENTS ALONG THE IMMEDIATE COAST.
THE MOST SIGNIFICANT IMPACT WILL BE COASTAL FLOODING AT TIMES OF HIGH
TIDE...WITH MINOR TO MODERATE COASTAL FLOODING LIKELY.
POTENTIAL IMPACTS

* WIND:
Prepare for hazardous wind having possible limited impacts across northeast
North Carolina. Potential impacts in this area include:
- Damage to porches, awnings, carports, sheds, and unanchored
mobile homes. Unsecured lightweight objects blown about.
- Many large tree limbs broken off. A few trees snapped or
uprooted, especially if soils are saturated. Some roadway signs
will sustain damage.
- A few roads will be impassable from debris. Hazardous driving
conditions on bridges and other elevated roadways.
- Scattered power and communications outages.
* SURGE:
Minor to locally moderate surge impacts are anticipated at this time
across northeast North Carolina.
* OTHER COASTAL HAZARDS:
High surf will bring a high threat of life threatening rip currents,
dangerous shore break and beach erosion across northeast North Carolina
beaches. It is recommended that you stay out of the surf zone.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS

* OTHER PREPAREDNESS INFORMATION:
Now is the time to check your emergency plan and take necessary
actions to secure your home or business. Efforts should be underway
to protect life and property. Ensure that your Emergency Supplies Kit
is stocked and ready.
If you live in a place that is vulnerable to high wind, such as a
mobile home, an upper floor of a high rise building, or on a boat,
plan to move to safe shelter. Take enough supplies for you and your
family for several days.
If you live in a place vulnerable to flooding, such as near the
ocean, bay, sound, a low-lying or poor drainage area, or near an
already swollen creeks or rivers, plan to move to safe shelter or
higher ground.
Heed the advice of local officials, and comply with any evacuation
orders that are issued.
When securing your property, outside preparations should be conducted
before conditions deteriorate. The onset of strong gusty winds and
heavy rain can cause preparedness activities to become unsafe.
Closely monitor NOAA Weather Radio or other local news outlets for
official storm information. Pay attention to any changes in the
forecast.
