**IRMA CONTINUES TO IMPACT THE AREA THROUGH TONIGHT**

    - A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Allendale, Bulloch,
      Candler, Dorchester, Effingham, Evans, Hampton, Inland
      Berkeley, Inland Bryan, Inland Colleton, Inland Jasper, Inland
      Liberty, Inland McIntosh, Jenkins, Long, Screven, and Tattnall
    - A Storm Surge Warning and Tropical Storm Warning are in effect
      for Beaufort, Charleston, Coastal Bryan, Coastal Chatham,
      Coastal Colleton, Coastal Jasper, Coastal Liberty, Coastal
      McIntosh, Inland Chatham, and Tidal Berkeley

* STORM INFORMATION:
    - About 250 miles west-southwest of Charleston SC or about 170
      miles west-southwest of Savannah GA
    - 31.5N 84.0W
    - Storm Intensity 50 mph
    - Movement North-northwest or 340 degrees at 17 mph

SITUATION OVERVIEW
------------------

Bands of heavy rainfall from Tropical Storm Irma will continue to
cross the area this evening, producing the threat for heavy rainfall,
gusty winds, and tornadoes. The life-threatening storm surge
inundation that occurred along the coast this afternoon will continue
to slowly recede through early this evening, though additional
inundation is possible with the early Tuesday morning high tide.

POTENTIAL IMPACTS
-----------------

* FLOODING RAIN:
Potential impacts from the flooding rain are still unfolding across
most of the area, especially along the north of I-16. Remain well
guarded against dangerous flood waters having additional significant
impacts. If realized, these impacts include:
    - Moderate rainfall flooding could prompt some rescues.
    - Rivers and tributaries could quickly become swollen with
      swifter currents and overspill their banks in a few places,
      especially in normally vulnerable spots. Small streams, creeks,
      canals, and ditches overflow.
    - Flood waters can enter some structures or weaken foundations.
      Several places could experience expanded areas of rapid
      inundation at underpasses, low-lying spots, and poor drainage
      areas. Some streets and parking lots take on moving water as
      storm drains and retention ponds overflow. Driving conditions
      become hazardous. Some road and bridge closures.

* WIND:
Potential impacts from the main wind event are now unfolding across
southeast South Carolina and southeast Georgia. Remain well sheltered
from hazardous wind having additional limited impacts. If realized,
these impacts include:
    - Damage to porches, awnings, carports, sheds, and unanchored
      mobile homes. Unsecured lightweight objects blown about.
    - Large tree limbs broken off. A few trees snapped or uprooted,
      but with greater numbers in places where trees are shallow
      rooted.
    - Some roads impassable due to debris, particularly within urban
      or heavily wooded locations. Hazardous driving conditions on
      bridges and other elevated roadways, especially for high
      profile vehicles.
    - Isolated to scattered power and communications outages.

* TORNADOES:
Potential impacts from tornadoes are still unfolding across southeast
South Carolina and southeast Georgia. Remain well braced against a
tornado event having additional limited impacts. If realized, these
impacts include:
    - Isolated tornadoes can hinder the execution of emergency plans.
    - Isolated locations could experience tornado damage, along with
      power and communications disruptions.
    - In isolated locations, tornadoes could damage trees, vehicles,
      boats and buildings, especially mobile homes and other poorly
      constructed structures.

* SURGE:
Potential impacts from the main surge event continue to unfold across
low-lying areas along the coast. Remain well away from life-threatening
surge having continued significant impacts. If realized, these impacts
include:
    - Areas of inundation of saltwater along immediate shorelines and
      in low-lying spots farther inland near rivers and creeks, with
      storm surge flooding accentuated by waves. Damage to several
      buildings, mainly near the coast.
    - Sections of near-shore escape routes and secondary roads become
      weakened or washed out, especially in normally vulnerable low
      spots.
    - Moderate to major beach erosion with heavy surf breaching
      dunes. Strong and numerous rip currents.
    - Minor to moderate damage to marinas, docks, boardwalks, and
      piers. Several small craft broken away from moorings,
      especially in unprotected anchorages. Some navigation aids
      possibly displaced well off station, creating difficult
      navigation near inlets and waterways.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
----------------------------------

* EVACUATIONS:
Do not return to evacuated areas due to hazardous conditions.

* OTHER PREPAREDNESS INFORMATION:
Now is the time to remain safely sheltered from the storm. Stay
inside and away from windows. Listen for updates and be ready in case
you lose electrical power. Locate your battery powered radio and
flashlight from your Emergency Supplies Kit. Keep these items close.

Continue to keep your cell phone well charged for as long as
possible. If you lose power, use it more sparingly and mainly for
personal emergencies and check-ins. Do not overload communications
systems with idle chatter.
