**Tropical Storm watch in effect for the Upper Keys**

* CHANGES TO WATCHES AND WARNINGS:
    - None

* CURRENT WATCHES AND WARNINGS:
    - A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for Monroe Upper Keys

* STORM INFORMATION:
    - About 200 miles southwest of Key Largo FL
    - 23.0N 82.6W
    - Storm Intensity 40 mph
    - Movement North or 355 degrees at 29 mph

SITUATION OVERVIEW
------------------

Tropical storm Philippe, located over western Cuba, will continue to
accelerate to the northeast tonight passing through the eastern
Florida Straits. Southeast winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts of 40 to
perhaps 50 mph in the stronger showers and thunderstorms are possible
tonight. Occasional showers may become more widespread. Additional
rainfall amounts will average 1 to 2 inches with locally higher
amounts. Within the strengthening southeast flow, a stray short lived
tornado is possible.

POTENTIAL IMPACTS
-----------------

* WIND:
Prepare for hazardous wind having possible limited impacts across
Florida Keys. Potential impacts include:
    - Damage to porches, awnings, carports, sheds, and unanchored
      mobile homes. Unsecured lightweight objects blown about.
    - Small branches break off trees, with a few shallow-rooted and
      diseased trees blown down.
    - A few roads impassable due to debris. Hazardous driving
      conditions on bridges and other elevated roadways.
    - Isolated power and communications outages.

* FLOODING RAIN:
Prepare for locally hazardous rainfall flooding having possible
limited impacts across Florida Keys. Potential impacts include:
    - Several locations may experience minor rainfall flooding. Flood
      waters may prompt brief street closures.
    - Quick ponding of water occurring at low-lying spots and poor
      drainage areas. Storm drains becoming full and beginning to
      overflow in a few places.

* TORNADOES:
Prepare fora  tornado event having possible limited impacts across
the Florida Keys. Potential impacts include:
    - The occurrence of isolated tornadoes can hinder the execution
      of emergency plans during tropical events.
    - A few places may experience tornado damage, along with power
      and communications disruptions.
    - Roofs may peel off buildings, chimneys toppled, mobile homes
      pushed off foundations or overturned, large tree tops and
      branches snapped off, shallow-rooted trees knocked over, moving
      vehicles blown off roads, and small boats pulled from moorings.
