**TROPICAL STORM EMILY MOVES ONSHORE**

* CHANGES TO WATCHES AND WARNINGS:
- A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Inland Manatee and
Inland Sarasota
* CURRENT WATCHES AND WARNINGS:
- A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Coastal Charlotte,
Coastal Hillsborough, Coastal Lee, Coastal Manatee, Coastal
Sarasota, Inland Manatee, Inland Sarasota, and Pinellas
* STORM INFORMATION:
- About 20 miles northwest of Sarasota FL
- 27.6N 82.8W
- Storm Intensity 45 mph
- Movement East or 90 degrees at 9 mph
SITUATION OVERVIEW

Tropical Storm Emily continues to move eastward across the region. The
potential for flooding rain remains the greatest threat across the
area, but wind gusts to tropical storm force can also be expected.
POTENTIAL IMPACTS
-----------------
* FLOODING RAIN:
Potential impacts from the flooding rain are still unfolding across
West Central and Southwest Florida. Remain well guarded against locally
hazardous flood waters having additional impacts. These impacts
include:
- Localized rainfall flooding may prompt a few evacuations.
- Rivers and tributaries may quickly rise with swifter currents.
Small streams, creeks, canals, and ditches may become swollen
and overflow in spots.
- Flood waters can enter a few structures, especially in usually
vulnerable spots. A few places where rapid ponding of water
occurs at underpasses, low-lying spots, and poor drainage
areas. Several storm drains and retention ponds become
near-full and begin to overflow. Some brief road and bridge
closures.
* WIND:
Potential impacts from the main wind event are now unfolding across
Manatee and Sarasota Counties southward. Remain well sheltered from
hazardous wind having possible limited impacts. These impacts include:
- Damage to porches, awnings, carports, sheds, and unanchored
mobile homes. Unsecured lightweight objects blown about.
- Many large tree limbs broken off. A few trees snapped or
uprooted, but with greater numbers in places where trees are
shallow rooted. Some fences and roadway signs blown over.
- A few roads impassable from debris, particularly within urban
or heavily wooded places. Hazardous driving conditions on
bridges and other elevated roadways.
- Scattered power and communications outages.
Elsewhere across West Central and Southwest Florida, little to no
impact is anticipated.
* TORNADOES:
Potential impacts from tornadoes are still unfolding across the area.
Remain well braced against a tornado event having possible limited
impacts. If realized, these impacts include:
- The occurrence of isolated tornadoes can hinder the execution
of emergency plans during tropical events.
- A few places may experience tornado damage, along with power
and communications disruptions.
- Locations could realize roofs peeled off buildings, chimneys
toppled, mobile homes pushed off foundations or overturned,
large tree tops and branches snapped off, shallow-rooted trees
knocked over, moving vehicles blown off roads, and small boats
pulled from moorings.
Elsewhere across West Central and Southwest Florida, little to no
impact is anticipated.
* SURGE:
Little to no impacts are anticipated at this time across West Central
and Southwest Florida.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS

* EVACUATIONS:
None expected.
* OTHER PREPAREDNESS INFORMATION:
If you live in a place particularly vulnerable to flooding, such as
near the ocean or a large n a low lying or poor
drainage area, or near an already swollen river, plan to move to safe
shelter on higher ground

that are issued. Do not needlessly jeopardize your life or the lives
of others.
Closely monitor NOAA Weather Radio or other local news outlets for
official storm information. Listen for possible changes to the
forecast.
