A TROPICAL STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR GUAM...ROTA...TINIAN
AND SAIPAN. TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS...INCLUDING WINDS OF 39 MPH
OR MORE...ARE POSSIBLE THIS MORNING.

.STORM INFORMATION...
AT 100 AM CHST...1500 UTC...THE CENTER OF TROPICAL DEPRESSION
CHABA WAS LOCATED BY SATELLITE NEAR LATITUDE 14.2 DEGREES NORTH
AND LONGITUDE 144.5 DEGREES EAST.

THIS IS ABOUT 105 MILES SOUTHWEST OF SAIPAN...ABOUT 90 MILES
SOUTHWEST OF TINIAN...ABOUT 45 MILES WEST OF ROTA AND ABOUT 55
MILES NORTH-NORTHWEST OF GUAM.

.SITUATION OVERVIEW...
TROPICAL DEPRESSION CHABA (21W) IS MOVING WEST AT 21 MPH. CHABA
PASSED JUST NORTH OF ROTA AROUND MIDNIGHT. CHABA COULD BECOME A
TROPICAL STORM LATER TODAY AS IT MOVES AWAY FROM THE MARIANAS.

...GUAM...ROTA...TINIAN AND SAIPAN...

.PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
TROPICAL DEPRESSION CHABA PASSED JUST NORTH OF ROTA AROUND
MIDNIGHT. PEOPLE IN THE MARIANAS SHOULD REMAIN PREPARED FOR THE
POSSIBILITY OF DAMAGING WINDS AND HEAVY RAIN THIS MORNING.
STRONGEST WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO BE TO THE NORTH AND EAST OF THE
CENTER.

....WIND INFORMATION...
FOR GUAM AND ROTA...SOUTHWEST WINDS 10 TO 20 MPH INCREASING TO 20
TO 30 MPH AFTER SUNRISE.

AT SAIPAN AND TINIAN...SOUTHEAST WINDS OF 15 TO 25 MPH AND GUSTS
UP TO 35 MPH WILL DECREASE TO BETWEEN 10 AND 20 MPH LATER IN THE
DAY.

...STORM SURGE AND SURF INFORMATION...
FOR TINIAN AND SAIPAN...HAZARDOUS SURF OF 9 TO 12 FEET WILL
PERSIST THROUGH TONIGHT ALONG NORTH AND EAST FACING EXPOSURES.
MINOR COASTAL INUNDATION IS POSSIBLE ALONG LOW-LYING SHORES. SURF
WILL SUBSIDE BY 2 TO 3 FEET ON FRIDAY. AT GUAM AND ROTA...SURF
SHOULD REMAIN BELOW HAZARDOUS LEVELS...BUT WILL INCREASE ALONG
WEST AND SOUTH FACING REEFS TODAY.

RAINFALL OF 3 TO 6 INCHES IS POSSIBLE TODAY ACROSS GUAM AND ROTA.
RAINFALL OF UP TO 1 INCH IS POSSIBLE TODAY ACROSS TINIAN AND
SAIPAN. FLASH FLOODING IS POSSIBLE THIS MORNING...ESPECIALLY AS
HEAVY SHOWERS BEGIN MOVING IN OVER GUAM AND ROTA.
