DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 1100 AM AST (1500 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Karl was
located near latitude 20.0 North, longitude 54.3 West.  Karl is
moving toward the west near 17 mph (28 km/h).  A west-northwestward
to northwestward motion at a slightly slower forward speed is
expected later today through Thursday.

Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts.
Some strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours.

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 140 miles (220 km)
to the north of the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 1006 mb (29.71 inches).
