SITUATION OVERVIEW

POST-TROPICAL STORM HERMINE WILL CONTINUE TO IMPACT THE RHODE
ISLAND SOUTH COAST AND MASSACHUSETTS SOUTHEAST COAST WITH ROUGH
SURF... DANGEROUS RIP CURRENTS...BEACH EROSION AND A PERIOD OF
GUSTY WINDS INTO TONIGHT. A TROPICAL STORM WARNING REMAINS IN
EFFECT FOR THE SOUTH COASTS OF RHODE ISLAND AND MASSACHUSETTS
INCLUDING BLOCK ISLAND... MARTHAS VINEYARD...NANTUCKET AND CAPE
COD.

AS OF 4 PM...THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL REPORTS OF TROPICAL STORM FORCE
WIND GUSTS ACROSS THE SOUTH COAST OF RHODE ISLAND AND SOUTHEASTERN
MASSACHUSETTS...INCLUDING THE CAPE AND ISLANDS. THERE WERE ALSO
REPORTS OF SUSTAINED TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS ACROSS THE NANTUCKET
AND MARTHAS VINEYARD THIS AFTERNOON.

ANTICIPATE TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS TO CONTINUE THROUGH THE EARLY
EVENING...BEFORE WEAKENING OVERNIGHT AND INTO TOMORROW MORNING.

ALONG THE COAST...DANGEROUSLY ROUGH SURF AND LIFE THREATENING RIP
CURRENTS WILL OCCUR THROUGH MID WEEK AT ALL OCEAN EXPOSED RHODE ISLAND
AND MASSACHUSETTS BEACHES. CONDITIONS WILL BE MOST SEVERE ALONG THE
RHODE ISLAND SOUTH COAST...BLOCK ISLAND...NANTUCKET AND THE OUTER CAPE
OCEAN SIDE. SEVERAL BEACHES ARE CLOSED AT THIS TIME. MINOR BEACH
EROSION IS STILL POSSIBLE FOR TONIGHTS HIGH TIDE.

A FEW HEAVY DOWNPOURS ARE POSSIBLE TONIGHT INTO TUESDAY ACROSS
SOUTHEAST NEW ENGLAND...BUT NO FLOODING IS EXPECTED.


POTENTIAL IMPACTS

* WIND: PREPARE FOR WINDS STRONG ENOUGH TO DOWN SOME TREES...LARGE
BRANCHES AND POWER LINES. EXPECT SCATTERED POWER OUTAGES THROUGH THE
EVENING HOURS.

* SURGE: A 1 FOOT STORM SURGE IS POSSIBLE TONIGHT. NO SIGNIFICANT
IMPACTS ARE EXPECTED OTHER THAN SOME MINOR BEACH EROSION.
