    - STORM INTENSITY 50 MPH
    - MOVEMENT NORTHEAST OR 55 DEGREES AT 20 MPH

SITUATION OVERVIEW
------------------

TROPICAL STORM HERMINE LOCATED OVER EASTERN SOUTH CAROLINA WILL
MOVE NORTHEAST DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS...MAKING ITS CLOSEST APPROACH
TO ST. MARYS COUNTY SATURDAY AFTERNOON. RAINBANDS AND WINDS TO
TROPICAL STORM FORCE WILL BEGIN TO AFFECT SOUTHERN MARYLAND LATE
TONIGHT OR EARLY SATURDAY AND CONTINUE INTO SUNDAY MORNING. HERMINE
WILL THEN SLOW DOWN SIGNIFICANTLY OR POSSIBLY STALL OUT OFF THE MID
ATLANTIC COAST SUNDAY.

THE STORM MAY MOVE BACK TOWARD THE COAST SUNDAY THROUGH MONDAY...
POSSIBLY BRINGING MORE RAIN AND CONTINUED BREEZY CONDITIONS FOR
LOCATIONS NEAR AND EAST OF INTERSTATE 95. THE FORECAST FOR THE FIRST
PART OF NEXT WEEK REMAINS HIGHLY UNCERTAIN.

POTENTIAL IMPACTS
-----------------

* WIND:
PROTECT AGAINST HAZARDOUS WIND HAVING POSSIBLE LIMITED IMPACTS ACROSS
FAR SOUTHERN MARYLAND. POTENTIAL IMPACTS INCLUDE:
    - DAMAGE TO PORCHES, AWNINGS, CARPORTS, SHEDS, AND UNANCHORED
      MOBILE HOMES. UNSECURED LIGHTWEIGHT OBJECTS BLOWN ABOUT.
    - MANY LARGE TREE LIMBS BROKEN OFF. A FEW TREES SNAPPED OR
      UPROOTED, ESPECIALLY WHERE THE GROUND IS SATURATED. SOME FENCES
      AND ROADWAY SIGNS DAMAGED.
    - A FEW ROADS IMPASSABLE FROM DEBRIS, ESPECIALLY IN HEAVILY
      WOODED AREAS. HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS ON BRIDGES AND OTHER
      ELEVATED ROADWAYS.
    - SCATTERED POWER AND COMMUNICATIONS OUTAGES.

ELSEWHERE ACROSS EASTERN WEST VIRGINIA, CENTRAL AND WESTERN MARYLAND,
NORTHERN AND NORTHWESTERN VIRGINIA, AND DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, LITTLE
TO NO IMPACT IS ANTICIPATED.

* FLOODING RAIN:
LITTLE TO NO IMPACTS ARE ANTICIPATED AT THIS TIME ACROSS EASTERN
WEST VIRGINIA, CENTRAL AND WESTERN MARYLAND, NORTHERN AND NORTHWESTERN
VIRGINIA, AND DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA.

* SURGE:
PROTECT AGAINST LOCALLY HAZARDOUS SURGE HAVING POSSIBLE LIMITED
IMPACTS ACROSS SAINT MARYS COUNTY. POTENTIAL IMPACTS IN THIS AREA
INCLUDE:
    - LOCALIZED INUNDATION WITH STORM SURGE FLOODING MAINLY ALONG
      IMMEDIATE TIDAL SHORELINES, AND IN LOW-LYING SPOTS.
    - SECTIONS OF NEAR-SHORE ROADS AND PARKING LOTS BECOME FLOODED.
      DRIVING CONDITIONS DANGEROUS IN PLACES WHERE SURGE WATER COVERS
      THE ROAD.
    - MODERATE SHORELINE EROSION.
    - MINOR TO LOCALLY MODERATE DAMAGE TO MARINAS, DOCKS, BOARDWALKS,
      AND PIERS. A FEW SMALL CRAFT BROKEN AWAY FROM MOORINGS.

ELSEWHERE ACROSS THE WESTERN SHORE OF THE CHESAPEAKE BAY AND THE
TIDAL POTOMAC RIVER, LITTLE TO NO IMPACT IS ANTICIPATED.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
----------------------------------

* EVACUATIONS:

IF YOU ARE EXCEPTIONALLY VULNERABLE TO WIND OR WATER HAZARDS FROM
TROPICAL SYSTEMS, CONSIDER VOLUNTARY EVACUATION, ESPECIALLY IF BEING
OFFICIALLY RECOMMENDED. RELOCATE TO A PREDETERMINED SHELTER OR SAFE
DESTINATION.

* OTHER PREPAREDNESS INFORMATION:
NOW IS THE TIME TO BRING TO COMPLETION ALL PREPARATIONS TO PROTECT
LIFE AND PROPERTY IN ACCORDANCE WITH YOUR EMERGENCY PLAN.

OUTSIDE PREPARATIONS SHOULD BE WRAPPED UP AS SOON AS POSSIBLE BEFORE
WEATHER CONDITIONS COMPLETELY DETERIORATE. ANY REMAINING EVACUATIONS

PET. TAKE ESSENTIAL ITEMS WITH YOU FROM YOUR EMERGENCY SUPPLIES KIT.
