ENGLAND. IN ADDITION...AS OF EARLY THIS EVENING FLASH FLOOD
WARNINGS WERE ALSO IN EFFECT FOR PORTIONS OF SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND. PLEASE
LISTEN CLOSELY FOR ANY FLOOD WARNINGS THAT MIGHT BE IN EFFECT FOR

AT 6 PM EDT...THE CENTER OF HURRICANE ARTHUR WAS LOCATED NEAR
LATITUDE 39.4N...LONGITUDE 71.1W. THIS WAS ABOUT 140 MILES
SOUTH-SOUTHWEST OF NANTUCKET MA. STORM MOTION WAS NE OR
45 DEGREES AT 26 MPH. STORM INTENSITY WAS 80 MPH.

.SITUATION OVERVIEW...
THE CENTER OF HURRICANE ARTHUR IS EXPECTED TO PASS WITHIN 50 MILES
SOUTHEAST OF NANTUCKET AND MAKE ITS CLOSEST APPROACH TO NANTUCKET
THIS EVENING. WIND WILL BE THE MAIN CONCERN ACROSS THE COASTAL
WATERS AND IMMEDIATE COASTAL AREAS. HEAVY RAINFALL WILL BE THE
PRIMARY CONCERN INLAND. COASTAL AREAS WILL ALSO BE AT RISK FOR
HIGH SURF AND DANGEROUS RIP CURRENTS.

THE IMPACT FROM COMBINED STORM SURGE AND TIDE WATERS IS EXPECTED
TO BE MINIMAL. THE MAIN THREATS FOR COASTAL AREAS WILL BE HIGH
SURF...RIP CURRENTS AND SOME BEACH EROSION. THE COMBINATION OF
HIGH SURF AND RIP CURRENTS WILL MAKE MANY BEACHES DANGEROUS LATER
TODAY AND TONIGHT. THESE DANGEROUS CONDITIONS ARE LIKELY TO
PERSIST INTO SATURDAY...DESPITE THE MUCH BETTER WEATHER.
