RECOMMENDED ACTIONS FOR PEOPLE AND MARINE INTERESTS IN SELECT
LOCATIONS AND COASTAL WATERS OF SOUTHEAST NORTH CAROLINA...
NORTHEAST SOUTH CAROLINA AND ADJACENT COASTAL WATERS.

PORTIONS OF ATLANTIC COASTAL WATERS.

.STORM INFORMATION...
AT 11 AM EDT...THE CENTER OF HURRICANE SANDY WAS LOCATED NEAR
LATITUDE 32.5N...LONGITUDE 72.6W. THIS WAS ABOUT 320 MILES
EAST-SOUTHEAST OF WILMINGTON NC. STORM MOTION WAS NE OR
45 DEGREES AT 14 MPH. STORM INTENSITY WAS 75 MPH.

.SITUATION OVERVIEW...
HURRICANE SANDY WILL MOVE NORTHWARD WELL OFF THE NORTH CAROLINA
COAST THROUGH TONIGHT. THE VERY LARGE CIRCULATION AROUND THE STORM
WILL PRODUCE OCCASIONAL WIND GUSTS OF 45 MPH ALONG THE COASTS OF
NEW HANOVER AND PENDER COUNTIES...AND GUSTS OF 55 MPH OVER THE
ADJACENT COASTAL WATERS. ROUGH SEAS OF 10 TO 14 FEET WILL PRODUCE
BREAKING WAVES AS HIGH AS 8 FEET AND RESULT IN DANGEROUS SURF
CONDITIONS AND A HIGH RISK OF RIP CURRENTS.

A HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK WILL CONTINUE THROUGH TODAY FOR ALL AREA
BEACHES. POWERFUL BREAKING WAVES UP TO AROUND 8 FEET ARE POSSIBLE.
THE CURRENTS AND WAVES WILL SUPPORT DANGEROUS SURF CONDITIONS.
