AT 4 PM CDT...THE CENTER OF HURRICANE ISAAC WAS LOCATED NEAR
LATITUDE 28.7N...LONGITUDE 89.2W. THIS WAS ABOUT 150 MILES SOUTH-
SOUTHWEST OF MOBILE AL...OR ABOUT 170 MILES SOUTHWEST OF PENSACOLA
FL. STORM MOTION WAS NW OR 310 DEGREES AT 8 MPH. STORM INTENSITY WAS
80 MPH.

.SITUATION OVERVIEW...
THE CENTER OF HURRICANE ISAAC WAS LOCATED ABOUT 150 MILES SOUTH-
SOUTHWEST OF MOBILE AL...AND MOVING NW AT 8 MPH. ISAAC IS FORECAST TO
MAKE LANDFALL ALONG THE SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA COAST THIS EVENING. ISAAC
WILL IMPACT OUR AREA AS TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS SPREAD INLAND
ACROSS THE WESTERN FLORIDA PANHANDLE...PORTIONS OF SOUTHWEST
ALABAMA...AND INLAND SOUTHEAST MISSISSIPPI OVERNIGHT. THE TORNADO
THREAT WILL ALSO INCREASE OVERNIGHT AS OUTER RAIN BANDS MOVE FROM
EAST TO WEST ACROSS THE AREA.

STORM SURGE OF 5 TO 8 FEET ABOVE GROUND LEVEL IS LIKELY ACROSS
COASTAL ALABAMA AND MOBILE BAY...ESPECIALLY FOR THE WESTERN AND
NORTHERN SHORES OF MOBILE BAY. STORM SURGE OF 3 TO 6 FEET ABOVE
GROUND LEVEL IS LIKELY ACROSS THE WESTERN FLORIDA PANHANDLE.

THE TIDE GAGE AT DAUPHIN ISLAND IS AT 3.7 FT AND STEADY. 2 TO 3 FEET
OF WATER ON BONNEVILLE BLVD (WEST END OF DAUPHIN ISLAND) CONTINUES.
THE DAUPHIN ISLAND BRIDGE AND THE DAUPHIN ISLAND CAUSEWAY (HIGHWAY
193) NORTH OF THE BRIDGE HAS BEEN CLOSED. DAUPHIN ISLAND IS ALSO
WITHOUT POWER.

THE TIDAL GAGE AT COAST GUARD SECTOR (NORTH MOBILE BAY) IS AT 4.2 FT
AND RISING. WATER HAS BEEN SPILLING ONTO THE CAUSEWAY...AND IS NOW
CLOSED. WATER OVER DAUPHIN ISLAND ROAD NORTH OF THE DOG RIVER BRIDGE
CONTINUES AS WELL. AN ESTIMATED WATER HEIGHT OF 6 FEET WAS REPORTED
AT THE ALABAMA PORT.

IN FLORIDA...PORTIONS OF FORT PICKENS ROAD (HIGHWAY 399) IS FLOODED
AND WATER OVER ROAD (GULF BLVD) AT WEST END NAVARRE BEACH FLORIDA IS
BEING REPORTED.

PORTIONS OF OTHER COASTAL COMMUNITIES...INCLUDING BAYOU LA
BATRE...ARE NOW FLOODED AND MANY ROADS ARE IMPASSABLE.

THE THREAT FOR COASTAL FLOODING WILL INCREASE SIGNIFICANTLY OVERNIGHT
AS THE ASTRONOMICAL TIDES BEGIN TO RISE LATE THIS EVENING...WITH
HIGH TIDE OCCURRING WEDNESDAY MORNING.

OUTER HEAVY RAIN BANDS WITH WIND GUSTS UP TO 60 MPH ARE SNAPPING
LARGE TREE LIMBS AND DOWNING POWER LINES...CAUSING SCATTERED POWER
OUTAGES. ADDITIONAL POWER OUTAGES ARE LIKELY AS HEAVY RAIN AND WINDS
SNAP LARGE TREE LIMBS...UPROOT TREES DUE TO AN INCREASING SATURATED
GROUND...BRINGING DOWN ADDITIONAL POWER LINES.

SQUALLS AND VERY HEAVY RAIN ASSOCIATED WITH THE HURRICANE WILL BEGIN
TO AFFECT THE AREA TODAY...AND CONTINUE THROUGH AT LEAST WEDNESDAY
NIGHT. WIDESPREAD HEAVY RAINFALL AMOUNTS ARE FORECAST TO ACCOMPANY
THIS SYSTEM. STORM TOTALS OF 5 TO 10 INCHES ARE EXPECTED ACROSS
SOUTHEAST MISSISSIPPI AND SOUTHWESTERN ALABAMA... WITH 12 INCHES
LOCALLY. RAINFALL TOTALS OF 2 TO 5 INCHES ARE EXPECTED FURTHER EAST
ACROSS SOUTH CENTRAL ALABAMA AND THE FLORIDA PANHANDLE.

TORNADOES EMBEDDED IN THE OUTER RAINS BANDS MAY OCCUR OVERNIGHT. A
TORNADO WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR MUCH OF THE AREA.

SEAS OVER THE COASTAL WATERS ARE NOW AS HIGH AS 20 TO 25 FEET...WITH
BREAKERS AT THE BEACHES AS HIGH AS 10 TO 15 FEET.

AS WITH ALL TROPICAL SYSTEMS...THE RIP CURRENT RISK WILL REMAIN AT
HIGH LEVELS FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS.
