THE TROPICAL STORM WARNING FROM SAN LUIS PASS TO MATAGORDA HAS
BEEN CANCELLED. TROPICAL STORM DON CONTINUES TO TRACK TOWARDS THE
LOWER TEXAS COAST AND TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED SOUTH
OF MATAGORDA.

THIS LOCAL STATEMENT PROVIDES IMPORTANT INFORMATION AND
RECOMMENDED ACTIONS FOR PEOPLE AND MARINE INTERESTS IN SELECT
LAND LOCATIONS AND COASTAL WATERS OF SOUTHEAST TEXAS AND THE
UPPER TEXAS BAYS AND COASTAL WATERS.

FOR MARINE INTERESTS...A TROPICAL STORM WARNING CONTINUES FOR
PORTIONS OF THE UPPER TEXAS BAYS AND COASTAL WATERS.

.STORM INFORMATION...
AT 4 AM CDT...THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM DON WAS LOCATED NEAR
LATITUDE 25.3N...LONGITUDE 93.6W. THIS WAS ABOUT 270 MILES
SOUTH-SOUTHEAST OF MATAGORDA TX...OR ABOUT 280 MILES
SOUTH-SOUTHEAST OF GALVESTON TX. STORM MOTION WAS WNW OR
295 DEGREES AT 14 MPH. STORM INTENSITY WAS 50 MPH.

.SITUATION OVERVIEW...
TROPICAL STORM DON CONTINUES TO MOVE TOWARDS THE LOWER TEXAS
COAST. IMPACTS FROM DON ARE EXPECTED TO BE MINIMAL ACROSS
SOUTHEAST TEXAS. THE COASTAL WATERS AND MATAGORDA BAY STILL HAVE
A SMALL POSSIBILITY OF WIND GUSTS TO TROPICAL STORM STRENGTH. THE
MAIN IMPACT FOR THE AREA WILL BE LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL FROM ANY
RAINBANDS THAT MOVE TOWARDS THE UPPER TEXAS COAST. SOME AREAS
COULD RECEIVE 1 TO 2 INCHES OF RAINFALL WITH LOCALIZED 3 TO 4
INCHES WHERE RAINBANDS TRAIN OVER THE SAME AREA.

TO BE MINIMAL. ACCORDING TO THE LATEST SURGE GRIDS...COASTAL
FLOODING IS LIKELY TO BE NEGLIGIBLE. TIDE LEVELS MAY BE ELEVATED
ABOUT ONE TO TWO FEET ABOVE NORMAL.

THE 20 TO 30 KNOTS RANGE WITH GUSTS TO 35 KNOTS. GUSTS TO
TROPICAL STORM FORCE ARE POSSIBLE IN THE AFTERNOON AND OVERNIGHT
HOURS...BUT PRIMARILY IN RAIN BANDS AND SQUALLS. SEAS ARE
EXPECTED TO BUILD THROUGH THE DAY FRIDAY INTO THE 6 TO 12 FEET
RANGE AND PEAK DURING THE EVENING HOURS. IMPROVING CONDITIONS ARE
EXPECTED THROUGH THE DAY SATURDAY AS WINDS AND SEAS SUBSIDE.

BRIEF ISOLATED WATERSPOUTS MAY BE POSSIBLE IN SOME OF THE
RAINBANDS THAT MOVE THROUGH THE COASTAL WATERS.
