THIS LOCAL STATEMENT PROVIDES IMPORTANT INFORMATION AND
RECOMMENDED ACTIONS FOR PEOPLE AND MARINE INTERESTS IN SELECT LAND
LOCATIONS AND COASTAL WATERS OF SOUTHEAST TEXAS AND THE UPPER
TEXAS BAYS AND COASTAL WATERS.

JACKSON...MATAGORDA AND BRAZORIA.

FOR MARINE INTERESTS...A TROPICAL STORM WARNING CONTINUES FOR
THE WESTERN PORTIONS OF THE UPPER TEXAS BAYS AND COASTAL WATERS.

.STORM INFORMATION...
AT 11 AM CDT...THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM DON WAS LOCATED NEAR
LATITUDE 24.1N...LONGITUDE 90.1W. THIS WAS ABOUT 480 MILES
SOUTHEAST OF MATAGORDA TX...OR ABOUT 460 MILES SOUTHEAST OF
FREEPORT TX. STORM MOTION WAS NW OR 305 DEGREES AT 14 MPH. STORM
INTENSITY WAS 45 MPH.

.SITUATION OVERVIEW...
WHEN MAKING DECISIONS...DO NOT FOCUS ON THE EXACT FORECAST TRACK.

THE PRIMARY THREAT WITH THIS SYSTEM IS EXPECTED TO BE HEAVY
RAINFALL. THE HEAVIEST RAIN IS EXPECTED TO REMAIN CONFINED TO
THE MIDDLE TEXAS COASTAL AREA. WIDESPREAD RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF
1 TO 3 INCHES ARE EXPECTED IN THIS AREA MAINLY FRIDAY AFTERNOON
TO SATURDAY MORNING. LOCALIZED HIGHER RAINFALL TOTALS OF 3 TO 6
INCHES WILL BE POSSIBLE OVER JACKSON AND MATAGORDA COUNTIES.
THE SMALL SIZE AND FAST MOVEMENT OF THE STORM ALONG WITH THE
ONGOING SEVERE DROUGHT WILL RESULT IN A LOW RISK OF FLOODING.

ISOLATED TORNADOES WILL BE POSSIBLE OVER THE AREA ESPECIALLY
FRIDAY NIGHT AND SATURDAY MORNING.

WIND GUSTS OF 25 TO 35 MPH ARE EXPECTED OVER PORTIONS OF
MATAGORDA AND JACKSON COUNTIES FRIDAY NIGHT. WIND GUSTS OVER 40
MPH WILL BE POSSIBLE IN THE VICINITY OF MATAGORDA BAY.

...STORM SURGE AND STORM TIDE...
THE IMPACT FROM COMBINED STORM SURGE AND TIDE WATERS IS EXPECTED
TO BE MINIMAL.

TIDE LEVELS OF 1 TO 2 FEET ABOVE NORMAL CAN BE EXPECTED LATE
FRIDAY THROUGH EARLY SATURDAY ALONG THE COAST FROM FREEPORT
WESTWARD AND ALONG THE SHORELINE OF MATAGORDA BAY. THIS WILL
RESULT IN MAXIMUM WATER LEVELS OF 2 TO 3 FEET ABOVE MEAN SEA
LEVEL.

ONLY MINOR COASTAL FLOODING IS EXPECTED...IMPACTING BEACHES
AND POSSIBLY SECONDARY ROADS ALONG THE IMMEDIATE SHORELINE.
