...TROPICAL STORM FORCE WIND GUSTS POSSIBLE IN RAINBANDS THROUGH
THIS MORNING...

...WINDS...
AS THE CENTER OF IRENE CONTINUE TO MOVE NORTHWARDS...THE FLOW ACROSS
THE REGION WILL SHIFT FROM NORTH TO NORTHWEST OVERNIGHT. WINDS WILL
BECOME WEST OVER THE TREASURE COAST BY DAYBREAK. SUSTAINED WINDS
OF 20 TO 30 MPH WILL CONTINUE ALONG THE IMMEDIATE COAST EAST OF
INTERSTATE 95 OVERNIGHT WITH GUSTS TO 35 MPH POSSIBLE OUTSIDE OF
ANY RAIN SQUALLS. WINDS ACROSS INLAND SECTIONS OF THE COASTAL
COUNTIES WEST OF INTERSTATE 95 WILL NOT BE QUITE AS STRONG BUT
STILL BREEZY...AROUND 20 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS TO 35 MPH. THE
STRONGEST WINDS WILL CONTINUE THROUGH MID MORNING...DIMINISHING
ALONG THE TREASURE COAST BY LATE MORNING AND EVENTUALLY THE
REMAINDER OF COASTAL EAST CENTRAL FLORIDA THROUGH THE DAY AS IRENE
PULLS FURTHER AWAY.

PASSING RAIN SQUALLS THROUGH THIS MORNING WILL PRODUCE STRONGER WIND
GUSTS UP TO 45 MPH.

...STORM SURGE AND STORM TIDE...
IRENE HAS CONTINUED TO DEEPEN AS IT MOVES NORTHWARDS OFFSHORE...AND
SEAS ACROSS THE LOCAL ATLANTIC HAVE RISEN DRAMATICALLY THROUGH THE
EVENING HOURS. DANGEROUSLY HIGH SURF AND LARGE SWELLS WILL IMPACT
THE BEACHES WITH THE POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT EROSION AND
LOCALIZED COASTAL FLOODING IN VULNERABLE AREAS. THESE THREATS WILL
BE HIGHEST DURING THE NEXT FEW HIGH TIDE CYCLES...WHICH WILL BE
AROUND 6 AM AND 6 PM TODAY AND SATURDAY. A HIGH SURF AND COASTAL
FLOOD ADVISORY ARE IN EFFECT ALONG THE COAST THROUGH THIS EVENING.

EVERYONE IS STRONGLY ADVISED TO STAY OUT OF THE LARGE AND BATTERING
SURF. LARGE BATTERING WAVES CAN KNOCK YOU DOWN AND MAKE EVEN
EXPERIENCED SWIMMERS SUSCEPTIBLE TO DROWNING. WAVES CRASHING ACROSS
PIERS AND JETTIES COULD ALSO MAKE IT DIFFICULT TO STAND OR WALK.
