NORTHERN OFFSHORE WATERS OF PUERTO RICO AND THE U.S. VIRGIN
ISLANDS.

A TROPICAL STORM WARNING CONTINUES FOR THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...
PUERTO RICO...CULEBRA AND VIEQUES.

FOR MARINE INTERESTS...A TROPICAL STORM WARNING CONTINUES FOR THE
SOUTHERN COASTAL WATERS OF PUERTO...THE SURROUNDING COASTAL WATERS
OF THE U.S VIRGIN ISLANDS AND ALSO FOR THE WESTERN WATERS OF
PUERTO RICO.

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH IS IN EFFECT FOR ALL OF PUERTO RICO AND THE
U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS. PLEASE LISTEN CLOSELY FOR ANY FLOOD WARNINGS
THAT MIGHT BE IN EFFECT FOR YOUR AREA.

AT 11 AM AST...THE CENTER OF HURRICANE IRENE WAS LOCATED NEAR
LATITUDE 19.2N...LONGITUDE 67.5W. THIS WAS ABOUT 50 MILES
NORTH-NORTHWEST OF AGUADILLA PR...OR ABOUT 180 MILES
WEST-NORTHWEST OF SAINT THOMAS VI. STORM MOTION WAS WNW OR
300 DEGREES AT 13 MPH. STORM INTENSITY WAS 80 MPH.

.SITUATION OVERVIEW...
RAINBANDS ASSOCIATED WITH HURRICANE IRENE WILL CONTINUE TO AFFECT
PORTIONS OF PUERTO RICO THROUGH THE REST OF THE DAY. THESE
RAINBANDS WILL LIKELY PRODUCE FLASH FLOODING OF SMALL STREAMS AND
RIVERS.

RAIN BANDS FROM THE TAIL OF TROPICAL STORM IRENE WILL CONTINUE TO
IMPACT THE U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS AND PUERTO RICO DURING THE AFTERNOON
HOURS. FOR THE REMAINDER OF TODAY...EXPECT CONTINUED PERIODS OF RAIN
WITH EMBEDDED THUNDERSTORMS...WHICH MAY BE HEAVY AT TIMES...WITH THE
POTENTIAL FOR AN ADDITIONAL 2 TO 4 INCHES. THE RUNOFF FROM THIS
RAINFALL WILL RESULT IN ADDITIONAL RISES OF RIVERS...STREAMS AND
GUTS. WITH THE ALREADY SATURATED SOILS...MUDSLIDES AND DEBRIS FLOWS
CONTINUE TO BE A CONCERN IN AREAS OF STEEP TERRAIN.
