THURSDAY...
...TROPICAL STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT...

...NEW INFORMATION...
TROPICAL STORM WARNING WAS ISSUED OVERNIGHT.

...PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

FINAL PREPARATIONS TO PROTECT LIFE AND PROPERTY SHOULD BE
COMPLETED BEFORE CONDITIONS DETERIORATE ON WEDNESDAY WITH BANDS OF
HEAVY RAIN AND INCREASING WIND. THE ONSET OF GUSTY WINDS AND HEAVY
RAINS CAN CAUSE OUTSIDE ACTIVITIES TO BECOME DANGEROUS. SECURE
LOOSE OUTDOOR OBJECTS WHICH CAN BE BLOWN AROUND. IF YOU LIVE IN A
MOBILE HOME...LEAVE IT FOR MORE SUBSTANTIAL SHELTER.

THE CITY OF PORT ARANSAS HAS ISSUED A PRESS RELEASE STATING THERE
ARE NO EVACUATION ORDERS IN PLACE FOR PORT ARANSAS AT THIS TIME.
THE BEACH AND BEACH ACCESS ROADS MAY BE CLOSED WEDNESDAY AND
THURSDAY.

&&

...PROBABILITY OF TROPICAL STORM/HURRICANE CONDITIONS...
THE CHANCE FOR HURRICANE CONDITIONS AT THIS TIME IS LESS THAN OR
EQUAL TO 5 PERCENT. ALSO...THE CHANCE FOR TROPICAL STORM
CONDITIONS AT THIS TIME IS 52 PERCENT. TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS
ARE MOST LIKELY TO BEGIN WEDNESDAY.

...WINDS...
AS TROPICAL STORM ALEX APPROACHES...SUSTAINED TROPICAL STORM
FORCE WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO BEGIN WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON OR EVENING AND
CONTINUE INTO EARLY THURSDAY. THE STRONGEST WINDS WOULD BE SOUTH
OF PORT ARANSAS. MINOR DAMAGE MAY OCCUR TO OLDER MOBILE HOMES.
RESIDENTS SHOULD MOVE LOOSE ITEMS INDOORS...SUCH AS GARBAGE CANS
AND OUTDOOR FURNITURE... AS THEY WILL BE BLOWN AROUND. NEWLY
PLANTED OR YOUNG TREES AND SHRUBS MAY BE UPROOTED IF NOT SECURED
PROPERLY. ISOLATED POWER OUTAGES WILL BE POSSIBLE.

...STORM SURGE AND STORM TIDE...
AS TROPICAL STORM ALEX APPROACHES THE COAST...THERE IS AN
INCREASING CHANCE FOR COMBINED STORM SURGE AND ASTRONOMICAL TIDE
WATERS UP TO 3 TO 4 FEET ABOVE MEAN SEA LEVEL WITHIN AREAS CLOSER
TO THE COAST...RESULTING IN WORST CASE FLOOD INUNDATION UP TO 1 TO
3 FEET ABOVE GROUND LEVEL SOMEWHERE WITHIN THE SURGE ZONE.

THE LOCATIONS MOST LIKELY TO REALIZE THE GREATEST FLOODING
INCLUDE LOW LYING AREAS...STREETS AND POOR DRAINAGE

THE IMPACT OF THE HEAVIEST RAIN WILL OCCUR WEDNESDAY AND
WEDNESDAY NIGHT. REMEMBER THAT SURGE WATERS OFTEN ARRIVE WELL
BEFORE THE STRONG WINDS...CAUSING SIGNIFICANT BEACH FLOODING
AND EROSION. STAY AWAY FROM JETTIES...THE THREAT FOR RIP CURRENTS
WILL BE MODERATE TODAY AND HIGH ON WEDNESDAY.

THERE IS AN ELEVATED THREAT TO LIFE AND PROPERTY FROM COASTAL
FLOODING...POTENTIALLY HAVING A LOW BUT NOTABLE IMPACT. THE
CONCERN IS FOR THE CHANCE OF MINOR COASTAL FLOODING TO OCCUR IN
AREAS WITHIN THE SURGE ZONE...RESULTING IN SHALLOW INUNDATION. IF
REALIZED...PEOPLE WITHIN THE THREATENED AREAS WHO FAILED TO ACT
ACCORDING TO THEIR PERSONAL DISASTER PLAN WILL HAVE NEEDLESSLY
PLACED THEMSELVES AT SOME MEASURE OF RISK.

MANY HOMES AND BUSINESSES ALONG THE SHORELINE...OR IN FLOOD PRONE
AREAS...WILL LIKELY EXPERIENCE SOME WATER ENTERING INSIDE...
ESPECIALLY FOR THOSE STRUCTURES NOT RAISED OR PROTECTED BY A
SEAWALL. HIGHER WAVES AND POUNDING SURF WILL INCREASE THE
LIKELIHOOD OF PROPERTY DAMAGE NEAR THE COAST...ESPECIALLY IN
EXPOSED LOCATIONS. SOME CARS MAY TAKE ON WATER OR EVEN BECOME
DISPLACED.

MODERATE BEACH EROSION WILL OCCUR...WHICH MAY BECOME SUBSTANTIAL
IF CONDITIONS EXTEND THROUGH MULTIPLE HIGH TIDES. SEVERAL ROADS
IN FLOOD PRONE AREAS WILL LIKELY BE CLOSED.

...INLAND FLOODING...
HEAVY RAINFALL OF 4 TO 8 INCHES...WITH LOCALLY HIGHER TOTALS...IS
EXPECTED AND THE RUNOFF MAY CAUSE AREAS OF FLOODING. A FLASH FLOOD
WATCH MAY BE ISSUED FOR HEAVY RAIN WEDNESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY.
