DURING THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. ON THE FORECAST TRACK... GUSTAV
SHOULD MAKE LANDFALL ON THE NORTHERN GULF COAST ON MONDAY.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 115 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS. GUSTAV
IS A CATEGORY THREE HURRICANE ON THE SAFFIR-SIMPSON SCALE. SOME
RE-INTENSIFICATION IS POSSIBLE TONIGHT. FLUCTUATIONS IN STRENGTH

...TROPICAL STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT...

...NEW INFORMATION...

TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS ARE IMPACTING THE COASTAL WATERS OF THE
NORTHERN GULF. LARGE SWELLS WILL BEGIN TO IMPACT THE COASTAL AREAS
IN A COUPLE OF HOURS.

...AREAS AFFECTED...

THIS STATEMENT RECOMMENDS ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN BY PERSONS IN THE
FOLLOWING COUNTIES OR MARINE AREAS:

COASTAL WALTON...BAY...GULF...AND FRANKLIN COUNTIES. AS WELL AS THE
COASTAL WATERS FROM DESTIN TO THE OCHLOCKONEE RIVER ENTRANCE OUT
TO 60 NAUTICAL MILES.

...WATCHES/WARNINGS...

A TROPICAL STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM THE OCHLOCKONEE
RIVER ENTRANCE WESTWARD.

...PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

AT THIS TIME IS APPEARS THAT THE GREATEST LIKELIHOOD FOR SUSTAINED
TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS WILL BE OVER THE COASTAL WATERS OF THE
FLORIDA PANHANDLE THIS EVENING THROUGH EARLY MONDAY.
HOWEVER...GUSTS TO 40 MPH WILL BE POSSIBLE ALONG THE PANHANDLE
COAST...MAINLY IN SCATTERED FAST-MOVING SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS.
AS A PRECAUTION...SECURE LOOSE OBJECTS LIKE PATIO FURNITURE AND
GARBAGE CANS AS THEY ARE MORE PRONE TO BLOWING OVER. TREE
LIMBS...SMALL SHRUBS...AND EVEN A FEW POWER LINES CAN BE BLOWN
DOWN AS WELL. BE PREPARED FOR SPORADIC POWER OUTAGES TONIGHT AND
MONDAY.

...STORM SURGE AND STORM TIDE...

AS OF 4 PM CDT...TIDES WERE RUNNING AROUND ONE FOOT ABOVE NORMAL ALONG
THE COASTAL AREAS OF THE FLORIDA PANHANDLE AND IN FRANKLIN COUNTY.
SINCE GUSTAV WILL MAKE LANDFALL WELL TO THE WEST OF THE
AREA...OVERALL STORM SURGE VALUES OF 2 TO 3 FEET IS EXPECTED ALONG
THE IMMEDIATE COAST OF THE FLORIDA PANHANDLE. SURGE VALUES NEAR 3
FEET DUE TO PERSISTENT ONSHORE FLOW ARE EXPECTED FROM CARABELLE
TO THE OCHLOCKONEE RIVER ENTRANCE. ASTRONOMICAL TIDES IN THE
FLORIDA PANHANDLE AND IN THE WESTERN PART OF FRANKLIN COUNTY
REMAIN RELATIVELY LOW. AS A RESULT...THIS WILL REDUCE THE OVERALL
IMPACT OF THE STORM SURGE AND LESSEN THE POTENTIAL OF COASTAL
FLOODING ALONG THE IMMEDIATE COAST. HIGHER ASTRONOMICAL TIDES ARE
PREDICTED FROM CARABELLE TO THE OCHLOCKONEE RIVER ENTRANCE.
THUS...THIS AREA OF FRANKLIN COUNTY COULD SEE SLIGHTLY HIGHER
IMPACTS FROM COASTAL FLOODING.

BELOW ARE THE TIMES OF HIGH AND LOW TIDE AT AREA BEACHES ALONG THE
COAST.

DESTIN...LOW TIDE AT 750 PM CDT SUNDAY. HIGH TIDE AT 111 AM CDT
MONDAY. LOW TIDE AT 650 AM CDT MONDAY. HIGH TIDE AT 144 PM CDT
MONDAY.

PANAMA CITY BEACH...LOW TIDE AT 540 PM CDT SUNDAY. HIGH TIDE AT 1127 PM
CDT SUNDAY. LOW TIDE AT 440 AM CDT MONDAY. HIGH TIDE AT 1200 PM
EDT MONDAY. LOW TIDE AT 421 PM CDT MONDAY.

APALACHICOLA...LOW TIDE AT 1146 PM EDT SUNDAY. HIGH TIDE AT 536
AM EDT MONDAY. LOW TIDE AT 1141 AM EDT MONDAY. HIGH TIDE AT 543 PM
EDT MONDAY.

DURING TIMES OF HIGH TIDE...THE POTENTIAL EXISTS FOR THE
SURF TO RUN UP TO THE DUNE LINE AND CAUSE MINOR BEACH EROSION.
MODERATE BEACH EROSION WILL BE POSSIBLE AROUND THE TIME OF HIGH
TIDE ALONG THE BEACHES IN BAY AND WALTON COUNTY...WHERE STRONGER
SURF CAN BE EXPECTED. SURF HEIGHTS WILL APPROACH 10 TO 12 FEET AT
TIMES WITH HIGHER SETS. ADDITIONALLY...THERE WILL ALSO BE HIGHLY
DANGEROUS RIP CURRENTS ALONG THE COASTLINE FOR ANYONE...INCLUDING
EXPERIENCED SURFERS...THAT ENTER THE SURF.

...WINDS...

WINDS WILL REMAIN ELEVATED INTO THE EVENING HOURS WITH VALUES NEAR 15
TO 20 MPH AT THE COAST. IT IS UNLIKELY THAT SUSTAINED TROPICAL
STORM FORCE WINDS WILL AFFECT THE FLORIDA PANHANDLE. HOWEVER...IT
IS POSSIBLE FOR THE WIND TO GUST TO 40 TO 50 MPH IN FAST MOVING
SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ALONG THE OUTER FRINGES OF GUSTAV.

...INLAND FLOODING...

SINCE THE MAIN CORE OF GUSTAV WILL LIKELY REMAIN OFFSHORE THE
FLORIDA PANHANDLE...WIDESPREAD FLOODING IS NOT EXPECTED. STORM
TOTAL RAINFALL OF 1 TO 2 INCHES...WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS ARE
EXPECTED...MAINLY IN HEAVY BUT FAST MOVING SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS ALONG THE COAST.

...TORNADOES...

ISOLATED TORNADOES WILL BE POSSIBLE LATE TONIGHT AND MONDAY AS THE
WINDS INCREASE. TORNADOES ASSOCIATED WITH TROPICAL CYCLONES ARE
FAST-MOVING AND OFTEN DIFFICULT TO SEE DUE TO HEAVY RAIN.

...NEXT UPDATE...

THIS STATEMENT WILL BE UPDATED BY 12 AM EDT MONDAY OR SOONER IF
CONDITIONS WARRANT.

545 PM EDT SUN AUG 31 2008

...GUSTAV CONTINUES MOVING TOWARD THE LOUISIANA COAST...
...TIDES ALREADY RUNNING ONE FOOT ABOVE NORMAL ALONG THE WAKULLA
COUNTY COASTLINE...

...NEW INFORMATION...

THE TIME OF HIGH TIDE HAS PASSED ALONG THE WAKULLA COUNTY COAST.
THE LATEST INFORMATION RECEIVED SHOWS THAT TIDES WERE ABOUT 1 FOOT
ABOVE NORMAL ON THIS TIDE SEQUENCE. IT IS EXPECTED THAT ADDITIONAL
ONSHORE FLOW WILL LEAD TO FURTHER INCREASE IN TIDE LEVELS TONIGHT
TO AS MUCH AS 4 FEET ABOVE NORMAL.

...AREAS AFFECTED...

THIS STATEMENT RECOMMENDS ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN BY PERSONS IN THE
FOLLOWING COUNTIES...

WAKULLA.

...WATCHES/WARNINGS...

A COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR WAKULLA COUNTY.

...PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

WHILE STRONG WINDS NEAR TROPICAL STORM FORCE ARE NOT
EXPECTED...COASTAL RUNUP DURING TIMES OF HIGH TIDE WILL BE
POSSIBLE ACROSS THE REGION. RESIDENTS LIVING IN THE FLOOD PRONE
AREAS...MAINLY WEST OF SAINT MARKS SHOULD CONSIDER MOVING ANY
OUTDOOR OBJECTS INDOORS TO PREVENT THEM FROM BEING LOST IN ANY
RISING WATER.

...STORM SURGE AND STORM TIDE...

EASTERLY...AND EVENTUALLY EAST SOUTHEASTERLY WINDS...WILL BEGIN TO
DRIVE UP WATER LEVELS IN APALACHEE BAY...MAINLY WEST OF SAINT
MARKS. THIS WILL CREATE THE POTENTIAL FOR ABOVE NORMAL TIDES FROM
LATE THIS EVENING THROUGH MONDAY. TIDES MAY RUN AS HIGH AS 2 TO 4
FEET ABOVE NORMAL ALONG THE IMMEDIATE COAST WEST OF SAINT MARKS.
THE AREAS MOST VULNERABLE TO FLOODING IN WAKULLA COUNTY WILL BE
AROUND MASHES SANDS NEAR THE OCHLOCKONEE RIVER AND SHELL POINT.

BELOW ARE THE TIMES OF HIGH AND LOW TIDE IN WAKULLA COUNTY...

SHELL POINT...LOW TIDE 1001 PM EDT SUNDAY. HIGH TIDE 358 AM EDT
MONDAY. LOW TIDE 1004 AM EDT MONDAY. HIGH TIDE 413 PM EDT MONDAY.

OCHLOCKONEE RIVER ENTRANCE...LOW TIDE 939 PM EDT SUNDAY. HIGH
TIDE 416 AM EDT MONDAY. LOW TIDE 1004 AM EDT MONDAY. HIGH TIDE 429
PM EDT MONDAY.

...WINDS...

SUSTAINED WINDS UP TO 15 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS WILL OCCUR TODAY
ACROSS THE REGION. GUSTS OF 35 TO 45 MPH WILL BE POSSIBLE IN SOME
OF THE STRONGER RAIN BANDS THAT MOVE OVER THE REGION TONIGHT AND
ON MONDAY.

...INLAND FLOODING...

SINCE THE MAIN CORE OF GUSTAV WILL LIKELY REMAIN OFFSHORE OF THE
FLORIDA PANHANDLE...WIDESPREAD FLOODING IS NOT EXPECTED. STORM
TOTAL RAINFALL OF 1 TO 2 INCHES...WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS ARE
EXPECTED...MAINLY IN HEAVY BUT FAST MOVING SHOWERS AND
