APPALACHIA...

FLASH FLOOD WATCHES REMAIN IN EFFECT FOR PORTIONS OF EASTERN
ALABAMA...NORTHERN GEORGIA...THE FAR WESTERN FLORIDA
PANHANDLE...MUCH OF EASTERN TENNESSEE...AND PORTIONS OF SOUTHWEST
NORTH CAROLINA AND NORTHWEST SOUTH CAROLINA. FLOOD WARNINGS REMAIN
IN EFFECT FOR PORTIONS OF ALABAMA...GEORGIA...AND FLORIDA.

AT 400 PM CDT...21Z...THE MIDDLE AND UPPER-LEVEL ENERGY ASSOCIATED
WITH THE REMNANTS OF FAY HAS MOVED INTO SOUTHERN APPALACHIA AND
SEPARATED FROM THE SURFACE LOW. THE SURFACE LOW WAS LOCATED NEAR
LATITUDE 34.9 NORTH...LONGITUDE 86.3 WEST...OR 60 MILES WEST OF
CHATTANOOGA TENNESSEE.

THE SURFACE LOW IS MOVING NORTHEAST AT 10 MPH...17 KM/HR. THE
FORECAST TRACK INDICATES THAT THE RAINFALL AND UPPER-LEVEL ENERGY
ASSOCIATED WITH THE REMNANTS OF FAY WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE INTO
CENTRAL APPALACHIA TONIGHT AND ACCELERATE NORTHEASTWARD ACROSS
EASTERN KENTUCKY ON WEDNESDAY EVENING.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE 15 MPH...WITH HIGHER GUSTS. THE
REMNANTS OF FAY WILL BE INCORPORATED INTO A MID-LATITUDE TROUGH
TONIGHT ACROSS CENTRAL APPALACHIA. THE MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE IS
1005 MB...29.68 INCHES.
