...TROPICAL STORM WIND WARNING CONTINUES IN EFFECT...

...NEW INFORMATION...

TORNADO WATCH EXPIRED.
WINDS SECTION UPDATED.
INLAND FLOODING SECTION UPDATED.

...AREAS AFFECTED...

THIS STATEMENT RECOMMENDS ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN BY PERSONS IN THE
FOLLOWING COUNTIES: GLADES, HENDRY, AND INLAND PALM BEACH.

...WATCHES/WARNINGS...

THE FOLLOWING WATCHES AND WARNINGS ARE CURRENTLY IN EFFECT FOR
THIS AREA: TROPICAL STORM WIND WARNING.

...PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM FAY HAS NOW MOVED NORTH OF THE AREA.
RESIDENTS SHOULD REMAIN INDOORS AS TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS,
MAINLY IN SQUALLS, CONTINUE TO AFFECT THE AREA INTO THE EVENING
HOURS. STAY AWAY FROM DOWNED POWER LINES. IF POWER OUTAGES OCCUR
AND A GENERATOR IS USED, ENSURE ADEQUATE VENTILATION TO PREVENT
CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING.

...STORM SURGE AND STORM TIDE...

AS THE CENTER OF FAY CONTINUES TO MOVE AWAY FROM THE AREA, WINDS
WILL GRADUALLY CONTINUE TO SUBSIDE. HOWEVER, THE STRONG SOUTHWEST
WINDS WILL CAUSE WATER TO PILE UP MAINLY ON THE NORTH AND
NORTHEASTERN SHORES. THE WINDS WILL GRADUALLY SHIFT FROM THE WEST
SOUTHWEST LATER THIS EVENING CAUSING WATER TO PILE MORE ON THE
EASTERN SHORE. HOWEVER, GIVEN CURRENT LAKE LEVELS ARE WELL BELOW
NORMAL, THIS IS NOT EXPECTED TO CAUSE ANY SURGE PROBLEMS.

...WINDS...

AS OF 5 PM, WINDS ACROSS THE AREA WERE RUNNING IN THE 25 MPH TO 38
MPH RANGE WITH GUSTS WELL ABOVE 40 MPH. WINDS WERE SLIGHTLY HIGHER
PARTICULARLY ACROSS NORTHEASTERN GLADES COUNTY. THESE WINDS WILL
GRADUALLY BEGIN TO IMPROVE AS THE CENTER OF FAY MOVES AWAY FROM
THE AREA.

TROPICAL STORM FORCE SUSTAINED WINDS IN THE LAKE OKEECHOBEE
REGION WILL BE CAPABLE OF CAUSING DAMAGE TO CARPORTS, AWNINGS AND
POOL ENCLOSURES AND SOME DAMAGE TO UNANCHORED MOBILE HOMES. SMALL
BRANCHES BREAK OFF TREES AND LOOSE OBJECTS ARE BLOWN ABOUT. WINDS
IN THIS RANGE BEGIN TO BECOME DANGEROUS ON BRIDGES AND
CAUSEWAYS, ESPECIALLY FOR HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES. POWER OUTAGES
ARE LIKELY, ESPECIALLY IN AREAS WITH ABOVE GROUND LINES.

...INLAND FLOODING...

TOTAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS SINCE MONDAY SO FAR HAVE AVERAGED 4 TO 8
INCHES WITH LOCAL AMOUNTS CLOSE TO OR IN EXCESS OF 10 INCHES
PARTICULARLY ACROSS PORTIONS OF GLADES AND HENDRY COUNTIES.
ADDITIONAL HEAVY RAINFALL AMOUNTS WILL CONTINUE TO AFFECT THE
AREA AS SPIRAL BANDS ROTATES ACROSS THE REGION ON THE SOUTH SIDE
OF FAY THROUGH THE EVENING HOURS. THIS RAINFALL CAN EASILY CAUSE
ADDITIONAL FLOODING OF LOW LYING POORLY DRAINED UNDERPASSES AND
DRAINAGE DITCHES, AS WELL AS PONDING OF RAINFALL RUNOFF IN PARKING
LOTS. BE SURE THAT DEBRIS DOES NOT CLOG DRAINAGE ROUTES IN ORDER
TO EASE RUNOFF FROM HEAVY RAINS. FLASH FLOODING MAY OCCUR IN AREAS
WHERE TRAINING OF SQUALLS SETS UP ACROSS THE SAME AREA FOR SEVERAL
HOURS. MOTORISTS SHOULD NEVER DRIVE ACROSS WATER OF AN UNKNOWN
DEPTH, TURN AROUND DONT DROWN. A FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR
THE AREA.

...TORNADOES...

WITH FAY NOW NORTH OF THE AREA THE TORNADO THREAT IS MINIMAL.
THEREFORE THE TORNADO WATCH HAS BEEN ALLOWED TO EXPIRE.

...NEXT UPDATE...

THIS STATEMENT WILL BE UPDATED NEXT AROUND 9 PM.

...STORM SURGE AND STORM TIDE...

NORMAL, THIS IS NOT EXPECTED TO CAUSE ANY SURGE PROBLEMS.

...TORNADOES...

QUICK STRIKING TORNADOES ASSOCIATED WITH THE SPIRAL BANDS OF FAY
CONTINUE TO BE POSSIBLE AS THE STORM CONTINUES TO MOVE NORTH.
HOWEVER, THE MAIN THREAT OF TORNADO PRODUCING RAIN BANDS WILL

THEREFORE, THE TORNADO WATCH HAS BEEN ALLOWED TO EXPIRE.

...LOCAL MARINE IMPACTS...
