THE INLAND TROPICAL STORM WARNING FOR LINCOLN AND COPIAH COUNTIES
HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED AND REPLACED WITH A WIND ADVISORY. THE CURRENT
FORECAST PATH OF TROPICAL STORM DENNIS HAS SHIFTED SLIGHTLY EASTWARD
FOR THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING AND SUSTAINED TROPICAL STORM FORCE
WINDS ARE NOT EXPECTED IN LINCOLN AND COPIAH COUNTIES.

THE REST OF WEST CENTRAL MISSISSIPPI REMAINS UNDER A WIND ADVISORY
TONIGHT AND MONDAY MORNING...WITH LAKE WIND ADVISORIES FOR NORTHEAST
LOUISIANA AND EXTREME SOUTHEAST ARKANSAS.

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH ALSO REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM THIS AFTERNOON
THROUGH MONDAY MORNING FOR THE EASTERN HALF OF MISSISSIPPI...
GENERALLY ALONG AND EAST OF INTERSTATE 55.

...STORM INFORMATION...
AT NOON CDT...THE CENTER OF HURRICANE DENNIS WAS LOCATED NEAR
LATITUDE 29.6 NORTH...LONGITUDE 86.9 WEST.  THIS IS ABOUT 180 MILES
SOUTHEAST OF HATTIESBURG MISSISSIPPI OR AROUND 220 MILES SOUTH
SOUTHEAST OF MERIDIAN MISSISSIPPI.

DENNIS IS MOVING TOWARD THE NORTH-NORTHWEST NEAR 18 MILES AN
HOUR....AND THIS MOTION IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE TODAY. THIS MOTION
WILL BRING THE CENTER OF DENNIS ONSHORE ALONG THE CENTRAL GULF COAST
THIS AFTERNOON BETWEEN GULF SHORES ALABAMA AND PENSACOLA FLORIDA.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 135 MILES AN HOUR...WITH HIGHER
GUSTS. THIS MAKES DENNIS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS CATEGORY 4 HURRICANE
ON THE SAFFIR SIMPSON SCALE. THE MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE IS NOW 939
MILLIBARS...OR 27.73 INCHES.

HURRICANE FORCE WINDS MAY IMPACT PORTIONS OF INLAND SOUTHEAST AND
EAST CENTRAL MISSISSIPPI TONIGHT AND EARLY MONDAY MORNING.

WINDS IN EXCESS OF 40 MPH...WITH GUSTS UP TO HURRICANE FORCE...ARE
ANTICIPATED TO DEVELOP AFTER 500 PM TODAY OVER PORTIONS OF SOUTHEAST
MISSISSIPPI.  IN EAST CENTRAL MISSISSIPPI...WINDS IN EXCESS OF 50
MPH WITH GUSTS BETWEEN 70 TO 80 MILES AN HOUR WILL BE POSSIBLE
ROUGHLY SOUTHEAST OF A LAUREL TO ROSE HILL TO DE KALB LINE TONIGHT.
AS THE LOW CENTER APPROACHES PORTIONS OF THE HIGHWAY 82 CORRIDOR
AFTER 3 AM MONDAY MORNING...NEAR THE STARKVILLE AND COLUMBUS
MISSISSIPPI COMMUNITIES...WINDS IN EXCESS OF 45 MPH AND GUSTS TO 70
MILE AN HOUR WILL BE POSSIBLE.

WINDS IN EXCESS OF 40 MPH...WITH GUSTS AS HIGH AS 60 MILES AN
HOUR...ARE ANTICIPATED TO DEVELOP THIS EVENING OVER THE REMAINDER OF
CENTRAL AND EASTERN MISSISSIPPI AFTER 7 PM.  THESE WINDS SHOULD THEN
SPREAD WEST AND NORTH...AFFECTING COMMUNITIES IN CENTRAL MISSISSIPPI
INCLUDING THE JACKSON METRO AREA. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT ANY
WESTWARD SHIFT IN THE TRACK OF DENNIS WILL SPREAD STRONGER WINDS
WEST OF THIS LINE.

AGAIN...DENNIS IS EXPECTED TO BE A CATEGORY 4 HURRICANE WHEN HE MAKES
LANDFALL DURING THE MIDDLE OF THE AFTERNOON.  ONCE ONSHORE...DENNIS
WILL BEGIN WEAKENING AS IT MOVES TOWARD EAST CENTRAL MISSISSIPPI.
THE HIGHEST WINDS WILL BE ALONG AND NEAR THE CENTER OF DENNIS...
WHERE TREES AND POWER LINES WILL LIKELY BE BLOWN DOWN OR SEVERELY
DAMAGED. DAMAGE TO MOBILE HOMES...ROOFS OF BUILDINGS...AND OTHER
STRUCTURE DAMAGE IS ALSO POSSIBLE.

DENNIS IS FORECAST TO REMAIN AT HURRICANE STRENGTH WELL INLAND...
POSSIBLY EVEN NORTH OF INTERSTATE 20 IN EAST CENTRAL MISSISSIPPI
EARLY MONDAY MORNING. THIS COULD RESULT IN WIDESPREAD AND LENGTHY
POWER OUTAGES AS THOUSANDS OF TREES ARE BLOWN DOWN.
