...EXTREMELY DANGEROUS HURRICANE OLAF HEADING TOWARD SAMOA...

...AREAS AFFECTED...
THIS STATEMENT RECOMMENDS ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN BY ALL RESIDENTS OF
AMERICAN SAMOA.

...WATCHES WARNINGS...
...A HURRICANE WATCH FOR AMERICAN SAMOA IS NOW IN EFFECT...
    (A HURRICANE WATCH MEANS HURRICANE CONDITIONS WILL OCCUR IN 24-48 HOURS)

...STORM INFORMATION...
HURRICANE OLAF REMAINS EXTREMELY STRONG WITH MAXIMUM WINDS OF 150 MPH
WITH GUSTS TO 170 MPH NEAR THE CENTER.  HURRICANE OLAF IS LOCATED ABOUT
360 NAUTICAL MILES NORTHWEST OF PAGO PAGO AND IS MOVING SOUTHEAST AT 10
TO 15 MPH.  IF  HURRICANE OLAF MAINTAIN ITS CURRENT MOVEMENT AND SPEED...IT
WILL PUT IT OVER TUTUILA AT 9 PM TUESDAY.

...PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
ALL RESIDENTS OF AMERICAN SAMOA MUST TAKE IMMEDIATE ACTION TO PROTECT
LIFE AND PROPERTY BEFORE NIGHT FALL.   THE PUBLIC IS ADVISED  TO STAY TUNE TO
NOAA WEATHER RADIO...LOCAL TV AND RADIO STATIONS FOR LATEST INFORMATION
ON EXTREMELY DANGEROUS HURRICANE OLAF.

...STORM SURGE AND TIDE IMPACTS...
THE THREAT OF COASTAL FLOODING WILL BE ON THE INCREASE TUESDAY MORNING
AS SEAS OF 15 TO 30 FEET WILL GENERATE SURF UP TO 40 TO 60 FT TUESDAY AND
TUESDAY NIGHT.  THE FLOODING OF LOW LYING AREAS AND COASTAL ROUTES
ALONG THE NORTH SHORES IS IMMINENT.

...WIND IMPACTS...
WINDS OF 40 TO 50 MPH WILL BEGIN TO AFFECT ALL ISLANDS TONIGHT INCREASING
TO 70 MPH TUESDAY MORNING.  HURRICANE CONDITIONS WILL BE IN PLACE FOR ALL
ISLANDS TUESDAY AFTERNOON WITH WINDS RAPIDLY INCREASING TO 100 TO 140 MPH
TUESDAY NIGHT.
