ISLE TO MORGAN CITY LOUISIANA...

ORLEANS...PLAQUEMINES...ST BERNARD...ST CHARLES...ST JAMES...ST JOHN
THE BAPTIST...ST TAMMANY...TANGIPAHOA...TERREBONNE...WEST BATON
ROUGE.

AND THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES IN MISSISSIPPI...HANCOCK...HARRISON...
JACKSON.

A HURRICANE WARNING CONTINUES IN EFFECT FOR THE ENTIRE MISSISSIPPI
GULF COAST. THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF BILOXI AND GULFPORT. A
TROPICAL STORM WARNING IS IN EFFECT FOR SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA FROM THE
MOUTH OF THE PEARL RIVER TO GRAND ISLE. THE HURRICANE WARNING AND
TROPICAL STORM WARNING WILL PROBABLY BE DISCONTINUED LATER THIS
MORNING.

THE HURRICANE WARNING IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT FOR THE GREATER NEW
ORLEANS AREA AND LAKE PONTRACHARTRAIN. THE HURRICANE WATCH AND
TROPICAL STORM WARNING ARE CANCELLED FROM GRAND ISLE TO MORGAN CITY.

...STORM INFORMATION SUMMARY...
AT 500 AM CDT...HURRICANE IVAN WAS LOCATED AT 30.9 NORTH AND 87.7
WEST OR 40 MILES NORTHWEST OF PENSACOLA FLORIDA. IVAN IS MOVING
TOWARD THE NORTH AT 14 MILES AN HOUR.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 115 MILES AN HOUR WITH HIGHER
GUSTS. IVAN REMAINS AN DANGEROUS CATEGORY THREE HURRICANE.

...PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
FOLLOW ADVISE OF LOCAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT OFFICIALS AND REMAIN IN
SHELTER UNTIL WINDS DECREASE LATER THIS MORNING. SMALL CRAFT SHOULD
REMAIN IN PORT UNTIL WINDS AND SEAS SUBSIDE.

...STORM SURGE FLOOD AND STORM TIDE IMPACTS...
WITH THE ONSET OF WEST AND NORTHWEST WINDS STORM TIDE LEVELS WILL
DECREASE TODAY ALONG THE SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA AND MISSISSIPPI COASTS.
STORM TIDES ARE NEAR 4 FEET ABOVE NORMAL IN THE LOUISIANA PARISHES
EAST OF THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER AND 4 TO 6 FEET ABOVE NORMAL ALONG THE
MISSISSIPPI COAST AND OF 2 TO 4 FEET ABOVE NORMAL IN THE SOUTHEAST
PART OF LAKE PONTCHARTRAIN THIS MORNING.

...WIND IMPACTS....
NORTHWEST WINDS 25 TO 30 MILES WITH HIGHER GUSTS ARE OCCURRING IN
AND AROUND LAKE PONTCHARTRAIN EARLY THIS MORNING.

WEST WINDS 35 TO 45 MILES AN HOUR WITH GUSTS TO 60 MILES AN HOUR ARE
OCCURRING ALONG THE SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA COAST.

NORTHWEST WINDS 45 TO 55 MILES AND HOUR WITH GUSTS TO 65 MILES ARE
OCCURRING ALONG THE MISSISSIPPI COAST.

WINDS WILL DECREASE AS HURRICANE IVAN MOVES INLAND LATER TODAY.

...RAINFALL...
RAINBANDS WITH MODERATE TO OCCASIONAL HEAVY RAIN WILL PERSIST ACROSS
COASTAL MISSISSIPPI THIS MORNING.
