LAFAYETTE...AND SAINT MARTIN PARISHES.

A TROPICAL STORM WARNING IS IN EFFECT FOR VERMILION...IBERIA...AND
SAINT MARY PARISHES.

...STORM INFORMATION...
AT 4 AM CDT...IVAN WAS LOCATED AT 26.1 N 87.8 W. WHICH IS 420 MILES
SOUTHEAST OF CAMERON...366 MILES SOUTHEAST OF INTRACOASTAL CITY...OR
321 MILES SOUTHEAST OF MORGAN CITY.

HURRICANE IVAN WAS MOVING TOWARD THE NORTH NORTHWEST AT 12 MPH. A
GRADUAL TURN TO THE NORTH IS EXPECTED TODAY. ON THIS TRACK...THE CORE
OF IVAN WILL BE NEAR THE COAST IN AROUND 24 HOURS.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS WERE 140 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS.

...PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

RESIDENTS NEAR THE COAST SHOULD BE ALERT TO MINOR COASTAL
FLOODING...ESPECIALLY DURING PERIODS OF HIGH ASTRONOMICAL TIDES.

...STORM SURGE FLOOD AND STORM TIDE IMPACTS...
STORM SURGE VALUES WILL RUN BETWEEN 2 AND 3 FEET TODAY. THIS MEANS
OVERALL TIDAL READINGS WILL FLUCTUATE BETWEEN 4 AND 6 FEET
THROUGH THE AFTERNOON HOURS. THE NEXT HIGH TIDE IN VERMILION
BAY WILL BE AT 456 PM TODAY.

...TORNADO IMPACTS...
TORNADOES ARE NOT EXPECTED THROUGH TONIGHT ACROSS SOUTH CENTRAL
LOUISIANA.

...RAINFALL IMPACTS...
THERE IS ONLY A CHANCE OF RAIN IN CENTRAL LOUISIANA AND A SLIGHT
CHANCE IN SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA. RAIN TOTALS WILL BE LESS THAN A
QUARTER OF AN INCH.

...WIND IMPACTS...
NORTHEAST WINDS 15 TO 20 MPH AND GUSTY CAN BE EXPECTED IN SOUTH
CENTRAL LOUISIANA. OVER THE COASTAL WATERS WEST OF
CAMERON...NORTHEAST WINDS AROUND 20 KNOTS BECOMING NORTH 20 TO 25
KNOTS IN THE AFTERNOON. FROM CAMERON THROUGH THE LOWER ATCHAFALAYA
RIVER WINDS WILL BE NORTHEAST AROUND 20 KNOTS BECOMING NORTH 25 TO 35
KNOTS BY AFTERNOON.
