THIS STATEMENT RECOMMENDS ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN BY RESIDENTS OF THE
MARIANA ISLANDS. PREPARATIONS SHOULD BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO THE
ONSET OF DAMAGING WINDS.

A TYPHOON WARNING IS IN EFFECT FOR GUAM...ROTA...TINIAN...SAIPAN AND
AGRIHAN OF THE NORTHERN MARIANA ISLANDS.

...STORM INFORMATION...
AT 10 PM GUAM LST..1200Z..THE CENTER OF TYPHOON CHABA WAS LOCATED
NEAR LATITUDE 14.1 DEGREES NORTH AND LONGITUDE 150.3 DEGREES EAST.
THIS IS ABOUT 375 MILES EAST OF GUAM
              340 MILES EAST OF ROTA
              320 MILES EAST OF TINIAN
              315 MILES EAST-SOUTHEAST OF SAIPAN
              385 MILES SOUTHEAST OF ALAMAGAN
              405 MILES SOUTHEAST OF PAGAN
              445 MILES SOUTHEAST OF AGRIHAN.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE 80 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 100 MPH. TYPHOON
CHABA IS MOVING WEST AT 12 MPH.

GUAM REMAINS IN CONDITION OF READINESS 2. RESIDENTS SHOULD BE
PREPARED TO FINALIZE ALL PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES BY MORNING. CIVIL
DEFENSE ENCOURAGES ALL EXPECTANT MOTHERS WHO HAVE AT LEAST 36 WEEKS
OF GESTATION AND ALL HIGH-RISK EXPECTANT MOTHERS WHO HAVE BEEN
PREGNANT AT LEAST SEVEN MONTHS TO REPORT TO THE GUAM MEMORIAL
HOSPITAL AT 9 AM SUNDAY. MOVE BOATS TO SAFE HAVEN.

DAMAGING WEST WINDS OF 30 TO 40 MPH WITH GUST TO 45 MPH WILL ARRIVE
SUNDAY NIGHT AND PERSIST INTO MONDAY. WINDS MAY FURTHER INCREASE TO
TYPHOON STRENGTH LATE SUNDAY AND MONDAY IF THE EXPECTED TURN TOWARD
THE NORTHWEST DOES NOT MATERIALIZE AND TYPHOON CHABA INTENSIFIES
MORE RAPIDLY THAN FORECAST.
