SOUND EAST OF NEW HAVEN CONNECTICUT AND PORT JEFFERSON NEW YORK...AS
WELL AS THE OCEAN WATERS EAST OF FIRE ISLAND INLET...

THIS STATEMENT IS FOR RESIDENTS OF THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES:

IN NEW YORK...
...SUFFOLK.

IN CONNECTICUT...
...SOUTHERN MIDDLESEX...SOUTHERN NEW HAVEN AND SOUTHERN NEW LONDON.


...WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...
ALL WARNINGS AND WATCHES HAVE BEEN DISCONTINUED.

...STORM INFORMATION...
AT 900 AM EDT...THE VERY POORLY DEFINED CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM
CHARLEY WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 42.0 NORTH...LONGITUDE 71.0
WEST...OR IN THE GREATER VICINITY OF BOSTON MASSACHUSETTS.

CHARLEY IS MOVING TOWARD THE NORTHEAST AT AROUND 30 MPH...AND THIS
MOTION IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE FOR THE NEXT 24 HOURS.

...STORM SURGE FLOOD AND STORM TIDE IMPACTS...
STORM SURGES ASSOCIATED WITH CHARLEY THIS MORNING MAY RANGE FROM
AROUND NORMAL TO 1 FOOT ABOVE NORMAL. MINOR COASTAL FLOODING MAY
OCCUR IN THOSE AREAS MOST SUSCEPTIBLE TO COASTAL FLOODING SUCH AS
THE BACK BAYS ALONG LONG ISLAND'S SOUTH SHORE.

...WIND IMPACTS...
SUSTAINED WINDS OF 15 TO 20 MPH MAY OCCUR FOR A FEW HOURS THIS
MORNING ACROSS EASTERN LONG ISLAND AND SOUTHEAST CONNECTICUT. OVER
THE WATERS ADJACENT THE EASTERN END OF LONG ISLAND...WINDS OF 15 TO
20 KT...WITH AN OCCASIONAL GUST TO AROUND 25 KT MAY CONTINUE THIS
MORNING.

...RAINFALL...
RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF ONE HALF TO ONE AND A HALF INCHES HAVE BEEN
REPORTED IN ASSOCIATION WITH CHARLEY. A FEW SHOWERS ARE STILL
POSSIBLE THIS MORNING...BUT NO SIGNIFICANT RAINFALL AMOUNTS ARE
EXPECTED.

...MARINE INFORMATION...
SEAS WILL INCREASE TO 4 TO 6 FEET EARLY TODAY.  THIS WILL RESULT IN
SOME BEACH EROSION...ESPECIALLY ALONG THE SOUTH SHORE OF LONG ISLAND.

...RIP CURRENT INFORMATION...
A HIGH RISK OF RIP CURRENTS WILL CONTINUE ALONG THE COAST THROUGH
SUNDAY. THESE DANGEROUS RIP CURRENTS WILL BE LIFE THREATENING TO
ANYONE WHO ENTERS THE WATER.
