...STORM INFORMATION...
AT 500 AM EDT...THE BROAD AND POORLY DEFINED CENTER OF TROPICAL
STORM CHARLEY WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 40.8 NORTH...LONGITUDE 73.0
WEST...OR NEAR FARMINGVILLE IN CENTRAL SUFFOLK COUNTY NEW YORK.

CHARLEY IS MOVING TOWARD THE NORTHEAST AT AROUND 30 MPH...AND THIS

OCCASIONAL WINDS IN EXCESS OF 39 MPH FOR A FEW HOURS THIS MORNING.

...STORM SURGE FLOOD AND STORM TIDE IMPACTS...
STORM SURGES ASSOCIATED WITH CHARLEY THIS MORNING MAY RANGE FROM 1
TO 2 FEET ABOVE NORMAL. WHILE WE ARE APPROACHING ASTRONOMICAL HIGH

THE LOWER OF THE 2 HIGH TIDE CYCLES...THUS MINIMIZING THE THREAT FOR
COASTAL FLOODING. HOWEVER...MINOR TO LOCALLY MODERATE COASTAL
FLOODING CAN BE EXPECTED...ESPECIALLY IN THOSE AREAS MOST
SUSCEPTIBLE TO COASTAL FLOODING SUCH AS THE BACK BAYS ALONG LONG
ISLAND'S SOUTH SHORE.

...WIND IMPACTS...
SUSTAINED WINDS OF 20 TO 30 MPH AND FREQUENT GUSTS TO 45 TO 50 MPH
WILL OCCUR FOR A FEW HOURS EARLY THIS MORNING AS CHARLEY MOVES INTO
SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND. WINDS OF THESE SPEEDS MAY DOWN LARGE TREE
BRANCHES AND POWER LINES. THIS MAY RESULT IN SCATTERED AREAS OF
POWER OUTAGES...ESPECIALLY IN THOSE AREAS THAT HAVE RECEIVED
SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF RAINFALL IN THE PAST SEVERAL WEEKS.

...SEVERE WEATHER THREAT...
THERE IS A SMALL THREAT THAT A WEAK...ISOLATED TORNADO COULD BRIEFLY
TOUCH DOWN AS SMALL BANDS OF THUNDERSTORMS JUST EAST OF THE CENTER
OF CHARLEY MOVES INLAND THIS MORNING.

...RAINFALL...
PERIODS OF HEAVY RAINFALL WILL PRECEDE AND ACCOMPANY A WEAKENING
CHARLEY AS IT MOVES ACROSS THE REGION. RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 1 TO 2
INCHES ARE POSSIBLE ALONG AND IMMEDIATELY EAST OF CHARLEY'S PATH.

...MARINE INFORMATION...
SEAS WILL INCREASE TO 4 TO 6 FEET EARLY TODAY. THIS WILL RESULT IN
SOME BEACH EROSION...ESPECIALLY ALONG THE SOUTH SHORE OF LONG ISLAND.

...RIP CURRENT INFORMATION...

SUNDAY. THESE DANGEROUS RIP CURRENTS WILL BE LIFE THREATENING TO
ANYONE WHO ENTERS THE WATER.
