...Climate Summary for August, 2023...

The month of August was typical as far as temperatures. However,
rainfall across Middle Tennessee varied considerably.

In Nashville, the average temperature was 79.8 degrees, which was
one-tenth of a degree above normal. The average high temperature
was 89.4 degrees and the average low temperature was 70.3 degrees.
The highest temperature was 100 degrees on the 24th and 25th. The
lowest temperature was 61 degrees on the 31st. There were 12 days
on which the temperature reached 90 degrees or better.

Rainfall for August totaled 3.17 inches, which was 0.62 inches
below normal. Only 0.03 inches of rain fell after the 14th. The
greatest 24-hour total was 1.19 inches on the 3rd. There were 11
days with measurable rainfall, and 9 days with thunderstorms. The
fastest wind gust was 55 mph on the 13th.

In Clarksville, the average temperature was 78.2 degrees, which
was eight-tenths of a degree above normal. The average high
temperature was 88.1 degrees and the average low temperature was
68.2 degrees. The highest temperature was 98 degrees on the 25th.
The lowest temperature was 58 degrees on the 31st. There were 10
days on which the temperature reached 90 degrees or better.

Rainfall for August totaled 6.12 inches, which was 3.22 inches
above normal. The greatest 24-hour total was 2.49 inches spanning
the 26th and 27th. There were 10 days with measurable rainfall,
and 10 days with thunderstorms. The fastest wind gust was 41 mph
on the 13th.

In Crossville, the average temperature was 72.5 degrees, which
was four-tenths of a degree below normal. The average high
temperature was 81.6 degrees and the average low temperature was
63.4 degrees. The highest temperature was 90 degrees on the 23rd
and 25th. The lowest temperature was 56 degrees on the 19th.

Rainfall for August totaled 9.04 inches, which was 5.43 inches
above normal. The greatest 24-hour total was 3.24 inches on the
28th. There were 12 days with measurable rainfall, and 3 days with
an inch or more. There were 11 days with thunderstorms. The
fastest wind gust was 64 mph on the 7th.

The Middle Tennessee outlook for September from the Climate
Prediction Center favors above normal temperatures and near
normal rainfall.
